You may think that my other effort, "CALABAR IS LIBERATED" was a spontaneous and natural outflow of the feeling of ecstasy of someone on the spot; someone who watched and witnessed the liberation; saw and felt the mysterious handiwork of God passing by. More is the pity that all this had not been filmed. The epic of liberation of our state moved on from the capital city of calabar to the mainland divisions.
This new compendium is a follow-up of how, inspite of the rebel - leader leading us through the " valleys of death, " we defiled him. Our emergence and our survival as a state are not difficult matter to explain. We were nurtured as Christian believers from the start, we had encountered " encircling gloom " cast by lbos on our path ; consequently, and in Christian manner we had put our hands into the palm of God and trusted Him to " lead us on amidst the encircling gloom." He did. We arrived
The rebel - leader had boasted that he fomented the crisis - that he knew by bringing about the crisis he would carve a niche in history for himself.

For us in the south- eastern state, this compendium is our story- call it history if you like; this is our song . it is not one that was fabricated as the arch- rebel did his; it would have been doomed to failure. The links for the anchor and chain for the drama of our liberation were forged "above" That is why, when Gowon, our ship's captain let anchor, it held the strain, rode and blasted all the storms and perfidies of Ojukwu's proposals all of which God disposed!

There are no apologies for this book. what we have all been through is not the sort of matter any generation should ever forget. It maybe by reading this book memories of those who passed on will alert us to the awareness- "There! but for the Grace of God, go I! '' As individuals and as state this is true enough; and I trust you, dear reader, will find reading this book worth your while

South Eastern state of Nigeria, The land of freedom and grace, The land of old Calabar and Ogoja provinces, The home of Annangs, Efiks, Ibibios and Ogojas, The region of early civilizations, Where trade, Christianity and education began.

Southeastern state of Nigeria the land of Cross, Qua Iboe and Opobo Rivers, The boundary begans from Atlantic Ocean, Followed its way to Northern states Bounded in the east by Cameroon Republic, Ended in the west by east central state.

Southeast state of Nigeria the land where virgin forests are abundant, the land of oil palms and timber, the land where rainfall is abundant, where soil is fertile all around, with rich vegetations everywhere.

The mangrove swamp is found in the south, the land of grasses in the upper north, the Cross River sprung from northern side, and meandered southward to Atlantic ocean.

The cross river is the greatest link, the link that counted centuries behind, the people travel up and down, for trade and business of all sorts.

Southeastern state of Nigeria, the home of eleven districts, Abak, Calabar, Eket, Enyong, Ibudu and Ikom, Ikot Ekpene, Ogoja, Opobo, Obubra and uyo, nearly four millions of population count, Calabar is the befitting Capital of southeastern state of Nigeria.

Many things the people have in common, similarities in tradition and custom, with common language, but local dialects, Efik language their lingua franca.

Their occupations are counted many, people of high culture and craftsmanship, they do farming, fishing, trading and hunting, renown teachers, and pastors are many, Doctors, scientists, engineers and lawyers are here.

Our state is where foodstuffs are surplus, yams, plantains, bananas, beans and rice, cocoa yams, cassava and citrus fruits, meat and fishes of all sorts, palm wine and other native drinks, are here to satisfy the needing souls.

Our massive fertile soil is a gift of God, our mineral wealth and many to count, minerals oil in commercial is found, limestones, lead, and zinc in quantum here, this is just to mention a few.

Timber we have enough to spare, rubber estates are counted many, palm oil and kernels beyond the count, cocoa and copra are numbered in , hides and skin and piassava, are among the lot we have in our state.

Nothing to regret in any of our towns, life is normal, free and fair, food is abundant everywhere, hospitality no tongue can tell, women are liberal, men are kind.

Our long associations with the western world had placed us first in everything, we are culture in all respect, we are humble in our ways of life step by step our progress go.

Trade was opened with the Western world, by our fathers centuries ago, slave trade was the foremost trade, palm oil and kernel took the lead.

Cross, Qua Iboe and Opobo rivers, were the channels for all the trades, Calabar and Opobo the important ports,Eket, Ediba and ITU were hinterland port.

Christian churches in the Western world, answered with speed our father call,to bring to us the Bible light, the Gospel light was what they brought.

Scottish missionaries were first to come,1846 was the year they came, Calabar was the port they arrived, they spread with vim the Bible work, cross river banks received their grace.

More missionaries from yonder came, and passed over to Ibibio land, Qua Iboe mission and Methodist church, were founded in Ibeno and Oron respectively, to evangelist their fold in Ibibio land.

Schools and institutions were established, to buttress with speed the bible work, European missionaries and teacher were many, Jamaicas and Sierra-Leone teachers came here, to bring us light of all that kind.

Hope waddell institute in calabar, Methodist institute in Oron, Qua Iboe institute in Etinan, were our Christian institutions of old, where our sons were perfectly trained, in educational and Christian fields, to spread the benefits to other race.

First Nigeria Lawyers came from here, Lawyers Inyang, Ebito, Esin and Ephraim, Dr.Henshaw took the lead in medical fields, many other professionals were to follow.

Many nations came to settle in our land, for trade and business of all kind, Government administration began from here, Calabar was made the capital town of what was then the southern Nigeria.

This can be a proof to all that we took the lead in everything, in trade, Christian, education and government field, we were masters to many that rise, we were kind to everyone and treated all with Godly heart.

Ibo race now shouting from the mountain top, that they are leaders and masters of us all, were then slaves and servants to do our work, their training and education they had from us, Christian religion we gave to them, Good feeding and dressing they learnt from us, No one can deny that genuine truth.

politics is a dirty game they say,the thing I shall hate till end of my life, it makes street boys to be the rulers, slaves and servants to rule their masters, because they can muster the majority, when politics came to Nigeria first, our country was made three regions, our section was eastern region and Ibos were counted in majority, in the first elected eastern house in 1951, professor Eyo ita became the first government leader, his government was toppled by Ibo people because it was not led by lboman because lbo were counted in majority.

This brought a big crisis in 1953, sir Clement pleace the then governor, saw clearly the wicked intentions of lbomen, he fought in vain to enthron justice, He was defeated by ibo leaders teaming up, because ibo were counted in majority,

Dr. Azikiwe who was in western Nigeria then, stood but failed in a fair and free election there, was brought and made the government leader, just because he was an iboman and because ibo were counted in majority.

Southern Cameroon which was then in eastern Nigeria saw at once the danger of Ibo menace, Dr. Enderly who was the Cameroon leader, strove with courage to separate his people, and succeeded at last to win their state, for sake Ibos domineering attitude, Nigeria missed southern Cameroon.

Our people saw the danger too, painful more as it was to us, That are slaves and servants should be our rulers, because the were counted in majority.

Dr. Udo Udoma, Eyo Ita and Okoi Arikpo, Late O.O Ita of blessed memory, Took the lead to fight for our state, to free our people from lbo race, Their efforts failed in all directions, Because lbos were counted in majority.

All minority areas in eastern Nigeria, Calabar, Ogoja and the Rivers people, Rose at once to seek their right, to free themselves from lbo oppression.

C.O.R. was the name they used. For Calabar, Ogoja and Rivers state, their efforts were brought to naught, because majority carried the vote.

The people struggled to their utmost best, they did many things to gain their state, Delegation to London they did send, Britain sent out Enquiry Commission (1957) to find the truth in the issues involved.

Commission of Enquiry proved the case, the genuine truth in minority fears, Recommended the creation of states, This was suppressed by lbo friends, Because their majority carried the vote.

Masters plan was put into force, to train lbo sons and daughters with speed , To man the key post in every field, Loans to traders and farmers were granted in haste, to help lbo domination in full, to second class, non -lbos must go.

scholarship and loan boards were set up, to expedite action of the masters plan, Scholarship to be awarded to lbo people, not minding their qualifications, two out of hundred scholarship awarded went to non-lbo areas, because lbos were counted in majority.

Nsukka University was established, with money from our sweat, to rush out lbo graduates, to be our lords and masters.

Loan Board gave out interest-free loans, African Continental Bank was formed, to grant overdraft to lbo people, lbos became rich overnight, to monopolise business of all kinds, and drove non-lbos out of commercial fields.

Brothers and Sisters, these were our money, money from our palm oil and kernel, money from our timber and cocoa, money from our rubber and copra, money from our taxes and rates, money from our mineral products, money from all sources in minority areas.

Our money was used in developing lboland, lbo roads were tarred to every corner, lbo Towns were filled with modern buildings, Day and night they glittered and shone.

Our areas were neglected areas, our roads were appalling to eyes, our Towns were ragged and shambles, we were deprived of all amenities.

There was nothing for us to do, any efforts must surely fail, what we did was to endure the fate, for majority must always carry the vote.

E.O Eyo the jungle lion, the frightening name to lbo race, lbos will fear him till after life, our worthy son, we are proud of him.

Eyo followed them to know the truth, He came out boldly to tell the world, of dishonest actions, lbos committed, for misusing the public money, to the advantage of lbo people.

Two million pounds of public money, were dumped in the African Continental Bank, By Azikiwe the lbo tin god, to benefit him and his tribesmen.

Azikiwe denied the charge, E.O. Eyo stood firm to prove his case, Foster-sutton Tribunal was set up, (1956) By British Government, then our masters, to probe the charge and tell the world.

Eyo and Zik went to battle, the world waited to hear the end, Eyo proved his case beyond all doubt and defected Zik in all fronts.

The tribunal announced it verdict, Zik was guilty on all counts, He had betrayed the trust reposed on him, By the region to take good care of our hard earned cash, as a result, he was driven out of office.

lbo people rose at once with one accord , to back Zik not minding the verdict, Zik was voted back to power forthwith, because their majority carried the vote.

Zik went back to government seat, and treated us with punitive vengeance, lbos hated us Efiks, Annangs, Ibibios, and Ekois, and treated us like men not at all to live.

Late l.U . Akpabio noble Annang son, served Zik's government with loyal heart, Did everything to prove his worth, He was acting premier many a time.

But when Zik was leaving the region, he handed power to M.I. Okpara, junior in rank to I. U. Akpabio, Akpabio had not the right to premiership, Because he was not an lboman.

Non-lbos were second class citizens, They had no right in any thing, No matter the knowledge they had for work, No Matter the position the hold before, There was no need for them at all.

Non-lbos promoted to higher posts, were just to deceive our people, They were figure-head in their different fields,They were in danger list all the times.

lbos spies were there to watch their steps, Surveyor Asuquo, Ndehedehe and others can tell their experiences in lbo Government.

Ibo people scattered everywhere, All over our fertile lands and Creeks,They held grounds in Calabar, Ogoja, and lkom, Oron, ltu , Obubra, ikot Ekpene and Opobo, which lbos took as their native towns.

They took over from us every thing, we did for ages to help our life , we were slaves in our native lands, our markets were under their control, our lands they farmed at their will, their houses were built at their plan, in our waters they were pirates there.

Anyone trying to fight for Hus right, was arrested by lbo policemen, lbo magistrate will try the case, their Accused is always guilty on all the counts.

If the Accused was not satisfied, He took his case to court of Appeal, the Appeal to be reviewed by lbo judge, Finally the Accused will go to jail, for lbo warders to take bad care of him.

That had been our fate my friends, All around our native lands, This land we were given free, By our Father the Mighty God.

We went on our knees always to pray, O God help us in this our land, Our suffering are beyond to bear, We know you are not a sleeping God , Rescue us from lbo domination, in Jesus Name we pray to thee.

lbos laughed as we offered prayers, 'All una thing na so so prayer, This na awa land for ever and ever, if una like bring God from heaven.'

Our sons and daughters had no job to do, they roam about with certificates in hands, The employment Centre was Enugu Capital, Hundreds of miles from our native towns, money for fare cost much to pay, Accommodation there were hard to find, Going there was waste of time .

All the work from clerical to labourer, everywhere in the former region, were monopolised by the lbos, Because they were counted in majority.

Our leaders saw more need for state, and continued to press on for its creation, though they had been failing time, they continued to try from time to time, they never yielded to complete defeat, the state issue grew from strength to strength.

lbo people did everything , to stop our people from demand for state, they used all tacts they could contrive, they caused division among our people.

Two provinces were made six, Annangs were divided from Ibibios, Efiks were set against Ibibios, Ekois were enticed to join the lbos.

They used money to cause confusion, they knew those who were Judas, among our sons and daughters, they made them to lead the battle, to help lbos to oppress our people, some were killed some sent to prison, they did everything to quiet our people.

Our state leaders were their target, Dr. Udo Udoma was thrown out of politics, His 1959 election was rigged outright, To stop his fight for state in Parliament, He was molested by lbo people, And later left to take his seat on the bench, lbos were happy, the Tigger was gagged.

Okoi Arikpo was pursued out of region, Eyo lta was cajoled and won, Late O.O. lta fought on in vain, he later left to join the bench, E. O. Eyo was dumped in dungeon, Andrew Bassey was sack from politics, lbo people sang hallelujah, Yet these could not stop the willing people.

where there is a will there is a way, no matter how rough the way had been, our people were bent on having their state, the determination was there in them.

From young children, to the age ones, their common desire was to have their state, though they were afraid of lbo race, the mind was there to show support.

Our women were like Gibralter rock, Madams Hannah Otudor, Edung to mention a few, were bold always to face the fight, C.O.R state was their heart desire, Ndiakata was the boundary they sang.

C.O.R. state was the popular demand, All over our land and Rivers province, Every machinery was set at work, Despite the oppression from lbo brigands.

A news-paper was founded at Uyo, to show the world our need for state, C.O.R. Advocate was the paper's name, lbo race took their wicked steps, to stop the paper's growth and spread.

Obafemi Awolowo a Yoruba chief, cannot be forgotten in our state history, He was the leader of a political party, The action Group of Nigeria it was called, the party which supported the COR state, from it inception to the end, Awo! was his popular name, Every where in our homes and streets.

Awo stood firm with our people, He showed sympathy to our oppression, No wonder! when he was in trouble, God brought him to stay with us, He was blessed within the walls, and was sent out to finish his work.

Since the inception of Parliamentary election, To federal and Regional Houses, Action Group here, always swept the poles, Action Group promised to create our state, our people backed them for sake of state.

On 1959 Federal election, our people backed them with full support, of fourteen seats for old Calabar Twelve were captured by the Action Group, there was every hope to have the state, lbos conspired to frustrate our hope.

Did you know that Ironsi and Ojukwu were ready to quickly execute the Niger Delta soldiers caught fighting for their liberation while Nzeogwu and other Ironsi's boys that took part in the bloody coup on our democracy were left untouched and even given heroes treatment in detention?

We must not forget so soon, the real perpetrators of hate, discord and bitterness in this country. SS people better wake up and see that the we SS/SE rhetoric is a plot to dominate Niger Delta and take over her resources.

Why then did you mention south south where Alaigbo/ndi-igbo command a very good percentage?

Always use the term, non Igbos in South south or you are a thief.

You a not even a niger delta man. You have no relationship with the old Easter region and you are here sweating over their unity.

So, Nzeogwu is now an igbo man.

Why then did you mention south south where Alaigbo/ndi-igbo command a very good percentage?

Always use the term, non Igbos in South south or you are a thief.

You a not even a niger delta man. You have no relationship with the old Easter region and you are here sweating over their unity.
You are shameless.
Don't mind them biko, let dem be yarning dust.
By now who doesn't know dt "Chukuma Nzeogwu" was a Fulani man from Ondo State!

After yorubas and hausafulanis massacre south south people, they want to change the narration.

The killing of south south people by yorubas and hausafulanis made Ikweres to deny being Igbo, just to save themselves.

Very soon yorubas will want to change the narration of asaba massacre which they and hausafulanis carried out.

It was the killing of Ikwerre by Nigeria troops that led Ikwerre to deny being igbo.

The same scenario played out in Asaba but they never denied being Igbos. You see anioma people, they are everything Igbo is. Very rugged people like their brothers across the Niger.

So says a muslim ewedurian skull miner. Their brother Osibande has stolen N100billion of wealth from SE and SS natural resources and ran out of Aso Rock. They will not talk about that. They are publishing photoshop picture of the thieving pastor holding meeting everyday whereas the pastor has collected his own national cake and left Aso Rock for Aisha.

yoruba muslims and their already propaganda aimed at destroying SE and SS political cohesion in 2023. grin

We expect more fake 'We SS' threads from the ewedugerians as we march on 2023. yorubas are now political orphans, they are definitely going back to opposition in 2023 since they are only good at promoting injustice and 'winner-takes-all' politics. They can not escape it. Walahi! grin

Ibo race now shouting from the mountain top, that they are leaders and masters of us all, were then slaves and servants to do our work, their training and education they had from us, Christian religion we gave to them, Good feeding and dressing they learnt from us, No one can deny that genuine truth.

politics is a dirty game they say,the thing I shall hate till end of my life, it makes street boys to be the rulers, slaves and servants to rule their masters, because they can muster the majority, when politics came to Nigeria first, our country was made three regions, our section was eastern region and Ibos were counted in majority, in the first elected eastern house in 1951, professor Eyo ita became the first government leader, his government was toppled by Ibo people because it was led by lboman because lbo were counted in majority.

Enderly who was the Cameroon leader, strove with courage to separate his people, and succeeded at last to win their state, for sake Ibos domineering attitude, Nigeria missed southern Cameroon
