The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has released a new age classification in Nigeria, Igbere TV reports.

At the launch of the Revised National Youth Policy, 2019 which took place in Akure, Ondo State on May 24th, the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, in a foreword presented at the launch, disclosed that the age bracket for the classification of youth in Nigeria has been reviewed downward from 18 – 35 years to 15 – 29 years.

Dalung in his foreword, stated that the age classification had to be reviewed downward so that every federal government intervention programmes designed for youths will get to the youths themselves and not adults masquerading as youth.

According to the Minimum Age Convention (1973), the general minimum age for admission to employment or work in Nigeria is 15 years. The United Nations defines ‘youth’ as persons between the ages of 15 and 24 years, Igbere TV reports.

This is bad, it will increase the madness of kids claiming to be youths, more underage voting, more child marriages and increase the Sin in the Land... 15 is to small, better increase to 20

Are you independent? Married? Able to handle responsibilities? If its no for at least 2 of these, then you can still join us for the next Youth day whether you are 29 or 35 or above. The age bracket is the numbers, the real deal are the aforementioned.

Will 15-yr-old offenders be tried in adult courts?
Will a 15-yr-old be allowed to work in a government establishment?
Will 15-yr-olds be eligible to vote?

I won't even talk about marriage because some folks are already allowed to marry babies.

Guy should clarify the rest.

Speaking for all aunties above 32 and still single:

We are still youths! we refuse to be called adults.
We have been dealing with people calling us evening newspapers, we can't take this age classification by FG.
We will not take it!

We have therefore reached the decision that if this is not reversed in 8 market days, we will all become feminists.

18 - 29 years, right? Why then do we have 40/50 years plus people as "Youth Leaders?"

Nigeria should stop changing the world's standard. 15 years old is still a teenager
