We would have done better than this if the second Republic was not terminated. Many second republic governors performance in 4 years, even with lesser allocations, can not be match by any fourth Republic governors of 8 years.
The military struck because of corruption allegations. But we later now know what they stole was child's play compared to the military

Exactly, in retropect the 2nd republic where by far the most productive set. Military rule is the worst thing that has ever happened to Nigeria. Military "thought" they knew better. Same thing happened during the 1st republic, allegations of corruption then next thing a coup, without taking into consideration the cultural sensitivities. 4th republic never had a chance, the psyche of the Nigerian had been destroyed by that point. Politics became an avenue to make money at that point.

I look at governors of the 2nd republic like Ambrose Alli who in 4 years built 600 secondary schools, 4 colleges of education, 3 polytechnics, the first ever state university and much more. This is a man that at the end of the day couldn't even afford to bury his father.

Nigeria needs military rule, in military rule they rule by decrees if your brother is the COAS and you Bleep up they will treat your Bleep up immediately, but in Nigerian democracy today they will check if you are from the North or South, PDP or APC, Christian or Muslim before doing anything.

Secondly we are not making progress in this democracy take for instance how this country would have been in the pass 20 years if the military were in power we won't hear of SARS brutality, Boko Haram, kidnappers, herdsmen and co

Thirdly Places like Aba would have been a better place, all the few good roads we have in Aba and Umuahia today were built during the military regime
You are dwelling in ignorance and illusion.

We are actually worse than when we started this sham of a democracy. One thing I have learnt about this shithole is that we have a way of turning the most noblest idea into a farce.
Democracy was meant to be about the people but here its all about the elites, that is the secret powers that be and their cronies who we see as elected officials.
Democracy in Nigeria is a scam, Nigeria itself is a scam. Its a nation that was never designed to function and it will never function.
These guys are just busy rotating power amongst themselves while fooling the citizens that they have democracy.
In the words of fela democracy in Nigeria is simply a demonstration of craze.
I remember the sanctimonious Obasanjo telling us that power outage will be a thing of the past by Dec 2001, but almost 18 yrs later its massively worse that it was during the military era, so don't fool yourselves folks.
Democracy is all about the elites In this shithole called Nigeria.

Worse evil, civil rule for Nigeria is what Obasanjo, Danjuma and the sleazers' military cabals together with PDP members have run and perpetuated to date. Never a democracy as expected of Obasanjo taking after S/Africa... The era 1998/99 held much better promises and hope for the future for our youths than post-May 29, 1999 to date

Economics wise, we sre still very oil dependent. We still keep on maintaining an unsustainable oil subsidy which is stifling investment in our downstream sector and making the economy stagnant.

We have not yet sorted our security issues out...and while Boko is on the back foot, things have gotten worse elsewhere.

Also, corruption is still a BIG issue...and the problem is that most Nigerians cannot or do not want to fight corruption. That is sad.

Finally, tribalism and religionist bigotry is still a big issue.

On the plus side....we have been democratic for 20 years, and we are getting used to it. As someone who lived under Army rule...thank God.

you have said it all
