Winning the Champions League final would be huge for Tottenham - but reaching the final is rich enough.

Victorious in three UEFA Cup finals from 1972 to 1984, Tottenham's run to the final in Madrid of Europe's premier club competition has catapulted the club into a serious European force.

They've already begun to reap the benefits of having a consistent presence in one of the world's richest competitions - evidenced by their iconic new stadium that opened in April.

Financing of the stadium was made possible thanks in part to the club's surge under Mauricio Pochettino.

In pound sterling terms, Tottenham's run to the round of 16 in last season's competition brought them £62.2million in gate receipts and prize money - including £53.1million in prize money alone.

This is thanks to the latest three-year UEFA broadcasting deal that will run until 2021, with the performance-based prize money available to clubs, excluding the co-efficient and TV pool money, rising considerably - from €57.2million to €82.5million.

The co-efficient payment is a new distribution method for 2018/19, based on performances in UEFA tournaments over the past 10 years and historical victories in UEFA competitions.

Meanwhile, the TV pool money is based on the club's position in previous season’s domestic league, as well as on the current season’s Champions League progress.

All in all, Tottenham will bank at least €100million from their run to the final. More cash than they could have dreamed of winning in Europe even five years ago.

Should they lift the trophy in Madrid, they will earn even more money by virtue of competing for the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea, who beat Arsenal in the Europa League final.

The two clubs that qualify for the UEFA Super Cup can each expect to receive €3.5million, with the winners collecting an additional €1m.
