Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has sworn in Alhaji Bello Bala Maru as the new Secretary to the State Government, SSG.

He also directed ministries to take charge of workers’ salary payments.

According to Governor Matawalle, “the decision to take away the payments from the ministry of finance is in order to bring about some semblance of probity and accountability into the civil service.”

“Workers welfare would be taken care of and we expect them to put in their best, inject their wealth of experience into the service for the betterment of their people and erring civil servants will be sanctioned,” he said.

Matawalle further explained that farmers would soon return to their farmlands as efforts were being made to make sure that communities are protected.

While charging the new SSG to bring about necessary positive changes in the state civil service, the governor revealed that he would appoint people in his administration across party divides based on competence and merit.

A fantastic idea. The ministry of finance might have been paying ghost workers in those ministries unknowingly. When the ministry pays its workers, four time attendant machines will be enough to terminate the ghost workers.

Are u sure it will terminate Ghost workers or add more Ghost workers?

What if each ministry wants to add more Ghost workers to its list, will that not make it more complicated to track?

Will that not give more work to the department having the oversight, and at the end, the supposed advantages of the move are wiped out by the time and resources used for greater oversight, to avoid abuse and fraud.

Will the move not distract the ministry from its core mandate??

It is just an unnecessary experiment, which will be more open to abuse and fraud than the current system.
