The Federal Government has revoked five oil mining licences (OML) and one oil prospecting licences (OPL) belonging to five companies, Igbere TV reports.

In a statement issued by the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Thursday, and obtained by Igbere TV, it said the revocation was based on a presidential directive to “recover legacy debts” owed by the companies operating the licences.

The five companies affected were listed as Pan Ocean Oil Corporation (OML 98); Allied Energy Resources Nigeria, (OML 120 and 121); Express Petroleum and Gas Company (OML 108); Cavendish Petroleum Nigeria (OML 110) and Summit Oil International (OPL 206).

What different will it make, are they not going to be awarded to some other people close to the president? Will it be given to a poor man? Will it have a direct effect on the poor masses out there? Will it give the people of Niger delta the recourse control they have been clamouring for? Will it give speedy acceleration to the deregulation of the oil sector? Will it encourage more refineries to be built? Will it reduce the price of petrol? He has just retrieved the licence to be given to people close to him simple

Actually Sapetro is not on here. I know summit belongs to the Abiolas and Cavendish to the Deribes.

SAPETRO is run properly and engaged in massive projects like Akpo and Egina with petrobras, total and cnooc.

It's gone beyond a rent collecting operation. They're literally a small IOC in their own right. Diversified with assets across select basins on the continent.

It'd be tricky to meddle into that. Even for Buhari

Summit Oil is MKO Abiola’s oil company...
Interesting timing a few days to June 12 (and I believe they operate OPL 205, not OPL 206).

We can see some of the reasons why some of these elites hate this man with a passion, and their last card looks like the Religious and Tribal criticisms and we the masses thinks they do that for us.
