When you do crap locally, don't expect people to manage poo.
Went to one eatery investment and almost threw up whilst having their icecream. Shii was real poo!

You ruined you good first line with the silly second line...
That’s akin to condemning all US restaurants because one got food poisoning in NYC. SMH

So let me tell you how these things work. You give it a try, it fails, you stay away for a very long time.....then hope for the best, try again..... result is worse than before.
You now want yours truly to be a good guinea pig and travel to the next outlet and try another local poo right?
You are blessed brav

Why would you keep going back to “try” something you professed not to like the first time? Perhaps the problems is yours... cheesy

Anyway, the more serious point is not to extrapolate or overgeneralize from one bad experience. There are many excellent (even WORLD-CLASS) Nigerian businesses and products, just as there are many subpar and poor ones. Depending on your price-point and/or options, my counsel would be to patronize the former and give a miss to the latter, but please quit the frankly mindless overgeneralization.

Meanwhile, if you are in need of good ice-cream in Lagos, both the Ice Cream Factory and Hans and Rene are excellent choices (as well as Cold Stone Creamery), and the local flavors of the latter (such as Agbalumo and Zobo) are heavenly. Cheers.

Maybe.

Please take a picture of a pair of shoes in your wardrobe that has made in Aba or even Nigeria written on it.
You'll be surprised to know that most of the shoes sold in top boutiques are made in Aba. I didn't know till I was opportuned to visit Aba. They make quality shoes but label it after other designer names. They said it's because most people won't buy if they knew the shoes were made in Nigeria

They should be proud if their product.

2 decades ago the only music the rules the Nigerian airwaves was American. Today, that story has changed such that we've gone global.

People would buy.

it'll take great effort to change our current mentality that foreign products are better. When that mentality changes, people will buy

If you read it well, the intention is to stop importing the shows for the military.

They should stop telling us what they want to do or what they will do but rather tell us what they have done

You don't have to read every publication from government.

You have no idea what you're saying.

This is a good development. However they should do what China has succeeded in, which is producing the item and allowing popular fashion labels brand them.

Offline Shopping keeps money circulating in our locality.

Can you back this statement with evidence that Nigerians import pizza or are you just parroting the words of the minister?

Online shopping, offline shopping... you will soon add that we should go back to standing on queues in banks with tally numbers and withdrawal booklets to promote using physical cash!! The point of online shopping is in line with enabling a cashless economy. It costs money to print money!!

Offline Shopping doesn't necessarily mean shopping with physical Cash.
When you buy with hard currency from Amazon, what value did u add to Nigeria Economy?

the economy actually benefits from import duties and VAT!

Technical, Amazon don't pay dose charges, u do.
What is faith of Local Trader that sell same product in Nigeria?
I see more value when international producers set up branch in Nigeria for Nigerians.

That's a good idea. Nothing beats patronizing locally made goods and services when it comes to developing a nation. That's why I am particularly very happy with the signing of the executive order number 5 by mr President. The order mandates every government agencies to patronize locally owned goods and services that going for foreign ones is only if there is no locally available ones.

That's what you call Leadership.

Of course he was stretching the truth. As for prostitutes, that has been happening from the Abacha era but I whether it still happens, I do not know oooo. The pizza talk is far-fetched. Perhaps it was one occurrence where someone did it

That's the price we pay for not being able to produce locally. We buy from Amazon in the first place because it is either cheaper buying from Amazon even with the charges or it is not available locally or even because you want to be certain that it is authentic. It will surprise you that it will be more expensive of an international producer sets up here due to the cost of production.

Let's however not stop with production. Even foreign health care takes money out of the country. What of fuel importation? These are bigger drain pipes on the economy than our shopping or importation of pizza
Re: Nigeria To Save N20bn Annually In Local Shoe Production by Onyeedum(m): 8:44pm On Jun 09, 2019
I'm actually advocating for a balance between Online and Offline Shopping in Nigeria.
With rapid growth of online shopping in our society, if we don't create a balance, our valued local markets like Alaba International, Onitsha Main Market etc will soon go into extinction.
Have a great week ahead wink.
