The color difference comes from the reflection of the rays of sunlight into the ocean, then the particles/molecules in the water disperse that reflection from the sun to give you the blue/green color of the ocean.. The color difference is dependent on the location of the Waters under the sun and as well the difference in particles in the water which also relies on where each water is located.. To give u an example, if u get two cups and fetch our own green coloured ocean and the blue ocean respectively, they will both appear colorless inside the cup but the salinity of both Waters will be different.

We pollute our rivers and seas with Shot put, people pee and shit into canals that flow into the seas.

There are other effluents from our level of civilization that keep our beaches dirty, just like the color of Lagos canals.
