Former Governor of Ondo state and key leader of the kitchen cabinet of President Jonathan’s Presidential bid, Dr. Olusegun Agagu , has finally broken his silence on the comportment and performance of the Mimiko administration in Ondo state. He also made clear and definite statements of assessment on the impacts of the Mimiko administration on the common man, concluding that the people of the Sunshine state have never had it so bad.
In all, Agagu, never known for play on words, described the current government in the state as a monumental failure, a plague and a curse on the people. Premising his argument on the poverty, inertia and absolute lack of prosperity in the state, Agagu said Mimiko’s government is not only profligate, it is also reckless, lacks focus and bereft of leadership charisma. The government, he also described is a simpleton, seeking integrity in lies and distortion, relevance in grandstanding and deceit
The former Governor, whose tenure recorded unarguably, the most intimidating development for the 34 year old state, tore the state government into shreds over the sacred matters of truthfulness, life changing achievements and discipline.

He flayed the government for consistently blaming its misfortunes on him and his administration’s policies, an action which he said diminishes whatever remains of the considerations for the government in the eyes of unsuspecting observers. According to him, the last 18 months have now shown that Mimiko is alien to what the responsibility of governance entails. The amoeba size and shape government has also indicated the merry go round nature of the government.
Picking governor Mimiko up point by point, Agagu said Mimiko excuse that OSUSTECH was left off for sometime because of the magnitude of contracts inflated and substandard jobs executed by contractors appointed by his administration, the former governor said Mimiko is a liar who tells lies to cover another lies all for the purpose of deceit.

Hear him: “The man is a liar look you said you confirmed there was foul play, and you have investigated for 18 months now and you have not been able to hold one man who stole one kobo, or one company which inflated contract by one naira. The contractors are there reputable contractors who worked for us; Setraco, CCC,(the best in UAE) LCC, JDP and Moreno . Go and interview them. Our rate, and I mean it, were the lowest in the whole of this country; much lower than those of other states. ‘’
Describing the current government as irresponsible Agagu said. ‘’An administration that could build VC house for N45 million is now being accused by an administration that is building a bus stop for N50 million. It is disgusting, this government is a plague.’’

Picking up the government on its reputation for deceit and manipulation. He concluded ‘’Look, the first quality of leadership is honesty so that your people can believe in you. Once you tell lies, that it is a conduit pipe for wasting money. Now, Agagu it must be who went to tell the NUC to withdraw the licence’’.
Dismembering the now unpopular allegation argument of Governor Mimiko that government had to stop the entire projects he embarked upon because his administration paid an unwieldy 50 per cent mobilization fees to the contractors, Agagu said the government should bury its head in shame and ask God and the innocent people of the state for forgiveness. He said the decision was a rational one, backed by law and principles of moral decency.
‘’ When we designed all these projects, we took a decision that we didn’t want anything to stop them. We wanted all our jobs to be ready without contractors coming for variation in price. We protected the tax payers money by giving the best value to it. In this country the best of international contractors were handling all the building projects, same for the water project. LCC was handling the water project, CCC was the biggest construction company in United Arab Emirate (UAE); it was building the stadium. JDP, Moreno and others are handling the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUTECH). Setraco is one of the biggest contractors in this country, after Julius Berger’’
Agagu said with over N50b laboriously saved by his administration in the purse of the government, it was ungodly to do nothing and just keep the money in the banks for other peoples’uses. “ We told our contractors we would pay them handsome mobilization to ensure that they deliver as scheduled, but no variation. Take the university project for instance, we awarded the university construction project in November/December 2008 and we told them that the building ought to be ready by September 2009 because the first set of students ought to resume in October. The National Universities Commission (NUC) gives you licence and expects you to start operating 12 months after. The licence was issued to us in 2008”.
