Some days back, I came across a post about a man who had a medical emergency at a bus stop in Lagos, but people couldn't call his family due to locked phone.

The writer advised against locking your phone - this is something every smartphone user won't be comfortable with.

So here is a few tip on how to protect yourself during such emergencies even when your phone is locked. This also be useful if your phone got missing and falls in the hand of a Good Samaritan

1. Type in your name and an emergency number into your phone's Note App.
E.g “This phone belongs to Rashidi Yekini, if found Please call 07065782230”
Make sure the number you type isn't your own number, it should be the anyone that can stand as your next of kin.

2. Take a screenshot, and change it to your lock screen.

You could edit the picture to make it more clearer. Alternatively you could use a phone design app.

To change it to your Lock screen, Go to - Settings - Display - Lock screen.

Or you could simply search Lock screen from your settings menu.

3. Take necessary precautions and hope that the person who finds your phone is a good Samaritan.
