Kemi Adetiba's 'king Of Boys' Does Not Need A Sequel! - OAP Daniel Whyte by Amagite(m): 11:44am On Jun 13, 2019
Nigerian OAP, Daniel Whyte has said that movie director, Kemi Adetiba's epic movie 'King Of Boys' does not need a sequel.

According to the HitFm presenter, a movie that should have a sequel shouldn’t have been almost three hours long.

Read as he wrote on social media below...

"Days ago, One of Nigeria’s prolific filmmaker and Movie director, Kemi Adetiba teased a sequel to the buzziest, blockbuster and record shattering movie of 2018, ‘King of Boys’ via social media and it got a lot of movie enthusiasts excited. However, the movie does not need a sequel. It doesn’t and Here’s Why…

We are in an era where movies are constantly rebooted, with sequels upon sequels especially if the original installment was a crowd-pleaser but sometimes in an effort to follow up, the viewer is left lost and disappointed.

For the Uninitiated, King Of Boys is a movie focused on power tussle. It stars rappers Illbliss and Reminisce in their movie debut roles. Others include Paul Sambo, Osas Ajibade, Toni Tones, Sani Muazu, Demola Adedoyin and Akin Lewis.

The plot is centered around Alhaja Eniola Salami (played by Sola Sobowale) who grew up in the slums of Lagos to a businesswoman and philanthropist with and a promising political future.

She is drawn into a struggle for power which in turn threatens everything around her as a result of her growing political ambitions. To come out of this on top, she is caught up in a game of trust, not knowing who to really look up to and this leads to her ruthlessness.

(You may cease reading this if you are yet to watch the movie as this will be of little help).

The total run time of this movie is Two hours, fourty-nine minutes (2h:49m), above average run time of 100 minutes.

For a movie that should have a sequel, it shouldn’t have been almost three hours long. Maybe it should have been shortened and the most part of ‘Denouement’ left for the sequel.

So far, Nigeria’s antecedent with Movie sequels are not so good. The Wedding Party 2 is a good reference to this. From redundant characters , error of continuity and an anticlimax , The sequel to The Wedding Party 2 had an unsatisfying resolution, irelevant scenes (Offcourse certain casts determine how good a scene comes out) although a few, just very few things were gotten right, specifically the comic relief.

Except in sitcoms which are segmented, we haven’t done justice to follow ups
King of Boys was and still a masterpeice, Kemi should create new characters (with less celebrities featured) and a new story line entirely and not necessarily a continuation of

King Of Boys. Let our memories remain perfect like that!
