Have you ever wondered why the rest of the citizens of Nigeria in other parts of the country always want to migrate down to Lagos, despite having the smallest land mass in the country, despite being at the extreme end of the country's map. Yeah, Lagos is the commercial capital of Nigeria and we have it all here. There is just nothing that is obtainable in other parts of the world that we don't have here in Lagos. Yes everything you can think about, the hip lifestyle, the latest trends in fashion, the glamour, the money, the music, the swagzzz and the traffic and to cap it all, the expensive cost of living.

Lagos is one of the most populous states in Nigeria due to the fact that people troop in here on a daily basis. The population of the state in itself is running to the tune of 30 million and you would wonder where all the people are living. Yes we are spread all across the states according to how fat our pockets are. Some of us live on the land on the Ocean, we call that Island. Some of us live at the other side of the ocean, we call that the Mainland. Some of us live in luxury estates, some of us live in slums and un-tarred streets. Some of us have cars and some of us have to hop on those big buses on a daily basis to transport ourselves from one part of the states to another.

But you know what we all have in common. We buy things expensively. We Lagosians always have to pay extra for every commodity available in the country. When you are in your state and you pay N100 for a commodity, we will pay N250 in Lagos and we are okay with that, are we truly okay with that? I will say we are okay because we always end up paying. Some of us will not even accept change when we pay with a bigger currency.

Another thing we all have in common is we wake up in the middle of the night, say 3 a.m, just because we want to resume at our work place by 8. a.m. We also enjoy staying in traffic for close to 5 hours or even more, everyday. Some of our parents only see us on weekends, despite living in the same house. You know why? They come home after we have gone to bed and they leave for work before we wake the next morning.

So tell me, why do you want to come to Lagos when we are living expensive lives over here.

Because majority of those anticipating to migrate to Lagos see the city as a land of fortune (just like some Nigerians who nurse this preconceived notion that their future lies outside the shore of Nigeria) where you can make it irrespective of it challenges considering the fact that Lagos is saturated with industries where many can pit their tent with.
