Unlike Turai who came in as an unknown, Patience’s brushes with the law, particularly, while her husband was the governor of Bayelsa State are widely known. So known that the respected New York-based Council of Foreign Relations’ report on the April 2007 elections claimed that her husband’s subjects dubbed her the “greediest person in Bayelsa State” and “a woman of great cruelty.” The report also claimed that she used state instruments, such as the police, to settle personal score.


A year before then, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had accused her of laundering N104 million through an associate. Shortly thereafter, the EFCC also seized $13.5 million from yet another associate, who allegedly laundered this amount on her behalf. To the eternal shame of that agency, that case died after her husband became the Vice President.

I forbid theft in any form.Your implication is that she is engulfed in systemic corruption and that it should be condolled because she inherited a corrupt system.
