This is too big to be a rat or is it zooming? But this is no hare; a hare looks like a rabbit while this looks like a rat. A lot difference!

That is a West African cane rat.
I think the reason people call it rabbit is the size difference from regular rats.
That doesn’t deter Nigerians, though, some of us still kill and eat the regular garden variety rat — under the guise of it still being a rabbit albeit a smaller one.

E don tey wet I chase bush meat, but that one no be "oya" cane rat. I am sure of that. The fur, head and tail is all wrong tail and head is too long, fur is too fine.

This is the beginning of our people resorting to eating rats!
