Ninth Assembly shall work closely with the executive to develop Nigeria - Lawan
....Issues bordering on trade relations and Visa acquisition to improve as Chinese Ambassador visits Senate President, Lawan and other Senators.

Senate President Ahmed Lawan on Wednesday, said that the national assembly under his leadership shall work closely with the Executive Arm to promote the wellbeing of Nigerians. Senator Lawan made this known when he received the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim and his team in his office. According to Senator Lawan, the 9th National Assembly will jointly work with the executive to create a stronger economy for the country. The Senate President further maintained that the national assembly under his leadership shall champion transparency so that Nigerians will always be able to know the activities and other events that happen at the Assembly.

The Senate President also received the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Zhou Pingjian who came visiting in his office to present a letter of congratulations as well as a gift to the leader of 9th assembly. He also used the visit to assure the National Assembly of the readiness of his country to sustain the existing cordial relationship and cooperation with Nigerians. On issues of application and acquisition of Chinese Visa, the Ambassador maintained that his country is working on a policy that will remedy the Visa challenges. He also assured Nigerians of improved trade and commerce relations. In his response, the Senate President assured the Chinese Ambassador that Nigeria will always cooperate and promote a cordial relationship with China for the betterment of the two countries and that Nigerians will be looking forward to improved Visa solutions, trade and student scholarship
Also visiting are members of Government Secondary School Gashua, Old Boys Association. During their visit, they appealed to the Senate President who is also a member of the association to always put the welfare of Nigerians at heart. In his remarks, Senator Lawan assured them that the legislature under his leadership shall be a National Assembly that works for Nigeria.

All the visitors also congratulated Senator Lawan on his election as the President of ninth Senate. Among those present at the various occasions is the Senator representing Anambra South and National Leader of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Sen. Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.
