PDP: A house divided against itself cannot stand

“And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”
~ Matthew 12:25 of the Holy Bible(King James Version)

The anger and horror caused by the gory October 1 terrorist bombings near the Eagle Square in Abuja have pitched the leaders of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) against themselves. The campaign offices of two presidential aspirants are at loggerheads with each other over accusations and counter-accusations of the perpetrators and suspects of the bombings. They are pointing accusing fingers and at each other’s throats. The misconstrued statements of President Goodluck Jonathan on his doubts of the complicity of the interview on Al Jazeera that implicated President Jonathan have worsened the political dispute between northern leaders and southern leaders in the PDP.

The supporters of President Jonathan have targeted his most formidable opponent, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retired), but the never-say-die former military head state is fighting back and he is winning the sympathy of the northern political bloc. If what Henry Okah said is true, then President Jonathan is in trouble.

The do-or-die politics of the PDP is heating up the polity and could make the party to implode from greed and factionalism even before the 2011 elections.
