JD Power recently released its report 2019 Initial Quality study for 2019 model year cars. The study is based on a survey distributed to over 76 thousand owners of new cars after 90 days of purchase or lease starting from February 2019 through to May 2019. The 233-question survey is comprehensive enough, covering 8 different vehicle categories. The study is made detailed and comprehensive to help automobile makers identify issues reported on their cars by their customers and thus find solutions to these issues.

1. Plant Quality Awards: Toyota Plant ranked Platinum
This award is given as an award of excellence to vehicle manufacturing plants for building cars with the lowest cases of defects and malfunctions.

The Plant quality award does not take into consideration design related issues. For the period under review, the Canadian Cambridge North Plant of Toyota Motor Corporation received the Platinum Plant Quality Award for producing cars with the fewest cases of issues and defects. The Cambridge North Plant carted away the away for the production of the Toyota Corolla built in the plant.

For the Gold Plant Quality Award Africa and Europe region, BMG’s Regensburg Plant in Germany took the price for in production of BMW cars like the BMW X1, BMW 4 Series and the BMW X2. The Gold Award for Asia went to Toyota Motors Tsutsumi plant in Japan for its production of Toyota Prius.

Speaking on this award, J. D. Power’s Vice President of Global Automotive Mr. Dave Sargent stated and I quote:

“The Cambridge plants have historically performed extremely well, and the data would support the view that they are among the most consistent in North America,” He added, “Everyone at the plants should be very proud.”

As mentioned earlier, the purpose of the survey is to assist car makers the world over, design and build top quality automobiles. The study focuses on Performance of car models across board, as well as a comparison of these models too. The 8 categories vehicle issues were classified under include:

Entertainment, Audio, Navigation and Communication
Seats
HVAC ( Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning)
Displays, Controls and Features
Driving Experience
