The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Guinea and Nigeria will indeed take place in Conakry on Sunday, October 10, according to Guineenews.

The Guinean FA said it received a fax from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo on Thursday evening confirming the encounter between the West African countries from Group B.

“We have just received a letter from CAF stating that the Guinea-Nigeria match will be held in Conakry on 10 October as planned. The Guinean authorities are requested to take all necessary steps to ensure a proper meeting. We have just informed the national coach Michel Dussuyer,” said a member of the Guinean Football Federation.

CAF Interim Secretary General Hicham El Amramni signed the fax, according to the Guinean FA.

“Furthermore, we have learned from official sources that a decision from FIFA on the lifting of the sanction of Nigeria is being expected at later in the evening,” the Guinean FA official said.

FIFA early this week banned Nigeria from all football activities within two years for government interferences, prompting an automatic cancellation of the Super Eagles match against the Syli National in the second round of the qualifiers.
