Any dispassionate reader will understand from this story that kidnapping in the north and cattle rustling are linked. Religion is only tangentially related to kidnapping. Fulani herdsmen aren't particularly religious; infact, most of them are just nominal Muslims. In this case, the assumption would be that they are seeking revenge against the locals who they suspect of stealing/ killing their cows and even relatives. In that particular area of plateau state the local population is Christian. Let's not forget that these kidnappers and locals are also hunting each other down. The situation is very bad. Just keep praying and take safety precautions always e.g travel only when it is necessary, avoid known kidnapping areas, avoid night or early morning trips, travel by train or air etc 1 Like 1 Share |
