FORMER Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, has been advised to stop fooling Nigerians and come out to tell them the real reason he was absent at the Eagle Square during the celebration of Nigeria's 50th Independence anniversary, instead of giving a flimsy excuse.

Babangida was the only living past head of state who did not attend the independence anniversary but he was reported in the media to have said that he was not at the event because he found the event as a waste of money.

Reacting to the reason given by the former military president, who is a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in next year's general election, a chieftain of the party in Surulere Local Government Area of Oyo State, Chief Isaac Adebayo Akinkunmi, noted that Babangida's reason was not tenable enough.

Akinkunmi, who is a staunch supporter of Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo presidential ticket, said it was unfair for “IBB to have said that the event was a waste of money.” He added that the country's golden jubilee celebration was an important milestone in its annal, which every leader ought to have identified with.

“The reason IBB gave was not tenable for every right thinking Nigerian,” he said.

He should have told us the real reason he was absent from the event at Eagle Square last Friday," Akinkunmi told the Nigerian Tribune, adding that, "if IBB said it was waste of money, is he telling Nigerians and the whole world that he did not waste Nigeria's resources when he was at the helm of affairs in the country? He who come to justice, they say, must come with equity.”

Akinkunmi, a chairmanship aspirant in Surulere Local Government Area, said IBB, as a leader in the country, ought to have demonstrated leadership without bitterness, saying that, "the fact that he is contesting for the PDP presidential ticket against President Jonathan does not mean that he should not identify with the Nigeria's aspiration. The 50th Independence celebration is an important event in the history of Nigeria."

I presume i ibb knows about the abuja bombing.Lets wait and see as the situation is been unravel. Ibb has a lot to say.Stupid Man,he's taking all nigerians for granted.
