Yemi Alade courted a controversy a few months ago when she claimed that it would be wrong for anyone to place singers like Tiwa Savage above her in Nigeria’s music place. Quite a lot of people bashed her, with the point that Tiwa was in the industry before her, and had gained wider ground.

But Yemi would have none of that, insisting that all artistes command the same audience. Now, just six years into the industry, she has gone way ahead to prove that by achieving 1 million subscribers on YouTube. She would be the first female African artist to hit this milestone.
