There’s one thing that separate you from others – that’s being productive with whatsoever you are committed to.

Every blogger seeks for ways to be productive but only few know what it means to be productive.

To be productive in any giving task, takes real determination coupled with self discipline.
If you’re not determined and disciplined, you’ll always find yourself playing Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation – instead of writing and publishing the next content and getting your readers to say thank you.

What I have written below are actually with I have tried myself and the result is awesome.
How do you boost productivity? Let’s get down to action!

SPEND LESS TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Spend less time on social media – Facebook, twitter, Instagram
Social media is so addictive we spend hours online doing nothing in particular.
I’m guilty of this. I will find myself going through every post on my news feed. Reacting “haha” to every post I come across.

So I decided to know how much time I spend on Facebook. I downloaded an app that tracks how much time I spend on other apps on my phone then, sends me notifications every 30 minutes – asking me to take a break.

The result? I discovered I was spending a minimum of 3 hours using Facebook.
What? That’s a whole 3hours I would have use to write, proofread and maybe publish an article on my blog.

Seth Godin, one of my favourite writers on marketing, confessed of not using twitter.(because they are time wasters)
Now, when I log in on Facebook, I reply relevant messages as fast as possible and skip those asking me who my favourite marvel character is.( They say time is money – I have stop wasting it. Lol) .

To be more productive with your business or whatever, you’ve got to set time to spend on social media, else, you’ll end up spending 3hours like me – doing nothing – guess you won’t like it.
My suggestion: instead of this.
Facebook: 30mins.
Twitter 20mins.
Instagram: 10min.
Try this:
Facebook: 20mins
Twitter: 10mins.

( It depends on where your audience come from – or where you want your audience to be ).
This suggestion is based on how I try to make good use of my time – to be productive without choking myself with much do’s and don’t’s.
I seldom use twitter and Instagram( I don’t spend more than 10-15 mins using them) . And I’m incredibly okay with that.

HAVE AN EDITORIAL CALENDAR FOR YOUR BLOG

T his is by far my No. 1 productivity enhancer.
Having an editorial calendar for my blog has increased my seriousness and focus by 10%.(self survey).

Publishing whenever, however or wherever might not be a good feat for your blog.
Based on choice, and how you want your editorial calendar to be/look like – it’s a set routine on how or when to publish your content.
Below is a rough sample of an editorial calendar I made.

An editorial calendar decide whether you’ll be publishing twice or thrice a week(unless you don’t want to follow it – that’s left for you).
With the help of this calendar, I publish thrice a week here on my blog. It has saved me the stress of thinking whether to post 5 articles a week or not.

Could be something like this;
Mon – publish
Tues – others
Wed – publish
Thurs – others
Friday – publish
Sat – others
Sun – your choice.

I follow my editorial calendar – I post thrice a week – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Saturdays and Sundays are reserved for whatever – fun, rest( because I’m human too, lol) .

I don’t have to run around talking to myself, “ but I post on Monday – when should I post again ?”
All I just have to do is follow what is written down – “ah” – I’m good to go.

SET 25-35 MINUTES EVERY MORNING WITHOUT INTERNET

Spend at least 25-35 minute in the morning without internet

That isn’t going to be possible for someone like me. Wake up by 5 or 6am and I’m already on Facebook, commenting on the next irrelevant post and replying to someone I don’t even know.
Uhm – spending 25-35 minutes early in the morning without an internet connection, to me is like “giving me delicious meal but I choose to fast” instead.

But since I tried the “25-35 minutes without internet in the morning” rule, I have loved it.
Instead of grabbing my phone straight from bed, I have diverse the energy to checking my previous articles that might need some little tweaking.

To get ahead with blogging, you’ve got to set priorities. If not, you won’t get much from it.
When I wake up in the morning, I quickly go through my content idea list – to see which article I’ll like to publish on my blog – then,
brainstorm a little. (Not easy, but I have to do it).

MAKE USE OF PRODUCTIVITY APPS

There are a ton of productivity apps out there to help you track your work progress.
Few Productivity apps on my phone.
Google Drive: for saving important files
WPS Office: Writing my blog post – editing and saving for next update
Canva: images to use for my blog – saves my a$s from playing with a copywrited image.

Wrapping up!

Being productive or becoming a productive blogger is not something that happens overnight.
