We are educated so that we are responsible people in the community we live and contribute meaningfully to same community and the world at large. The way we talk to our leaders in authority shows that the education we acquired is a waste. The youths when the hear what is coming out from the people they see as the elites in the society they tend to act in that direction. Let us be careful the way we talk to the hearing of the young ones in this country. We need peace. The president of this country meant well for the people of Nigeria for suggesting or proposing to establish cattle settlements in the country. Perhaps, we need to ask him to give us more time for wide spread awareness.

Was this your position when this same Buhari insulted GEJ while the latter held sway as president?

You're now clamouring for respect because his from your region baa?

Southern Nigeria and Middle belt need to break away from this contraption called Nigeria. It's time to call a spade a spade. The north can thrive on their own and live the way they like. Let the South also have the chance to exist the way they so desire. Over time we have seen that every time the north wants something they threaten the south with violence. Every election period if a northerner isn't winning we are all threatened with violence. When the North fill up powerful positions it’s OK, but when the South does so, the north threatens us with violence. The north wants it all, power, money, control, islamization, finalization etc. At best the South can only achieve anything if the north endorses it. We cannot continue like this. Let's stop the self-deceit.

Even if we don't love ourselves down south that much, we can always work out a system of government that works for all. The time for southern Nigeria and the Middle belt to act is now. We can never be slaves to the north. Whatever southerners can achieve in Nigeria, they can achieve more in Southern Nigeria Republic.

Time to dismantle the project called Nigeria. Restructuring is a waste of time it will not remove the animosity. My apologies to Ojukwu, God bless his foresight. But for the so called middle belt which is actually north, be careful or you end up as real slaves and cheap resource to Biafra.Same warning applies to South South.

A wise man, George Santayana-not a delusional man- once said these time-immemorial words: "'Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.' In its raw form, it was "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

History matters.

It is important that we continue to remember and remind others of history, no matter how recent, in order to forestall them the horrible coincidence of repeating it. Like Nigerians did in 2015. They woke up in 2019, agreed, but alas! The tiger they fed said it has not had its full.

History matters. I am sure you know his anyway.

I can't understand why the government has to suspend the RUGA scheme, since there is enough land in the north, the fulanis are indeginous to the north n the northern states has agreed to provide land for the scheme why not go ahead with it n see how it goes if really there is no sinister intention behind the scheme.

If you aren't given to pettiness or myopic, you would probably be seeing the RUGA proposition as a possible solution to resolving the costly, agelong crisis between farmers and herders, which has claimed countless lives and caused the destruction of wanton agricultural produce, livelihoods and impoverishment.

I am sure it is people like you that consider the term FULANI as prefix for herdsmen. In case you care to know, my grandfather was hugely into animal farming and I know influential individuals, including monarchs, across southern Nigeria who own cattles. Is there a law in Nigeria that prohibits members of other ethnic groups from engaging in animal husbandry?

You really need to stop displaying crass ignorance in the guise of opposing Buhari and the RUGA initiative.

Why Buhari Must Cancel RUGA Project, Not Just Suspend
Re: Don’t Bring Back Ruga If You Don’t Want Nigeria To Disintegrate– Clark Warns PMB by wink2015(m): 4:17pm On Jul 09, 2019
Edwin Clark, leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against reintroducing Rural Grazing Areas (RUGA) in the country.

Mr Buhari had approved the creation of Ruga settlements for herdsmen across the nation without stakeholders carried along.

Though it is said to be optional, for interested states, the project was suspended largely due to the rejection of it in the South, fuelling speculation in some quarters that the government was out to grab lands for herders of Fulani extraction.

There are reports that the initiative will be reintroduced after been repackaged with presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, saying the federal government has gazetted lands for the project in the 36 states of the country.

Warning against the reintroduction, Clark while addressing journalists at his Abuja residence on Monday said the move will disintegrate the nation if brought back.

“Let us go back, we have been living with Fulani and their herds for very long time; even when I was young, they lived with us. When they are bringing their cows, they used their sticks and everybody gave way but today we see herdsmen armed with Ak-47 all over the country moving around, killing people, raping women, killing children and so forth, destroying farms and today not one single one has been arrested, no single one has been caught and his gun removed; that is the country we belong,” the elderstatesman said.

He wondered why the government wants to establish settlements for those it claimed were foreigners killing Nigerians if the present administration had no ulterior motives.

“Government is not interested in seeing that the herdsmen with arms that came from Niger, Libya and other places are addressed; they want those people to be settled in our midst. It is not the Fulani who are going round with cows that they want to settle. These (foreigners) are not the ones they want to settle. So I disagree with that project.”

Clark called on the federal government to withdraw the initiative rather than suspend it because it will not be acceptable to Nigerians.

He described the project is an abomination to the entire people of Nigeria made up of other ethnic nationals.

“They should now withdraw it completely. Whether they suspend it for another 10 years or so, if it comes back, Nigeria will not survive as a country. It is good they withdrew it. If they say they have just suspended it and they are bringing it back, no Nigerian will agree to it and that may be the beginning of the disintegration of this country. God forbid!”

While applauding the government’s effort at diversifying the economy, the elderstatesman suggested ranching as the solution to herders and farmers clashes.

“Ranching is the solution. If you want to maintain cattle rearing, it is ranching. That is what operates everywhere in the world. Even in less civilised developed countries in Africa. If you go to Brazil and East Africa, ranching is what they are doing. Even our founding fathers in the first republic established ranches. There were ranches at Obudu Cross River State, Ondo State and in the north. Nobody kicked against it but for you to introduce a settlement for resolving the problem between herdsmen and farmers is unthinkable,” he added.

I think President Muhammadu Buhari is taking our patience for granted.

The earlier he bury this RUGA REGGAE that he is dancing to the better.

A smart elder!
Not some elders who are ready to sell out their future because of greed.
What is the land mass of Niger state alone?
Is it not equivalent to the land mass of five states in the South?
This government has a secret agenda exposed earlier by OBJ.
SAY NO TO RUGA OR ANY OTHER NAME RELATED TO IT.

Why Buhari Must Cancel RUGA Project, Not Just Suspend

The truth is out there for all to see but southerners are busy hurling insults at one another. Acting like crabs in a bucket.
Somehow, some people believe that they can negotiate their way through fulani hegemony. They believe fulani will spare them, they even go as far as encouraging this government to go ahead and oppress other southerners that are not from their region. Horrible!

If Ijaw leadership does what the fulani leadership is doing now, the outcry will be deafening.

If an Igbo man does want the fulani leadership is doing now, the whole nation will cry blue murder

If a yoruba man does what the president and his brethren are doing now, the public outcry will be nonstop

If an Edo man does half of what the president is doing, other southerners will want to crucify him.

But the fulani north is doing it with all the boldness they can muster and southerners are busy hurling insults at one another (speaking big big grammar up and down) all over the internet instead of taking the bull by horn and rejecting in its entirety all the abnormalities we've experienced in this dispensation.

It will never stop.

The time for Southern Nigeria Republic is now.

We may not like each other enough, but our differences can be sorted out and an arrangement where each region will take charge of their affairs will be birthed.

It won't be perfect but it will be better than what we are experiencing now. There will be healthy competition among the regions and over many years, 15, 20, 25 years the regions will be strong and up there with the rest of the world.

Our mumu don do.
