^^^

I'm cool with all except the last one 'be o ni?'

Not so sure about it . . ,
Olumogun:

Meaning : Sister Idi-ileke, you are to write out the words you want interpreted to Ekiti.

@ Idi-ileke
'm having an headache - she nu orififo n gbe mi

I have no classes today, but I have exams to study for - Mi ke ni kilassi korankan leni, sugbon mi ni exam lati ka?

What is wrong with that child? - ki i se omo un?

how are you? - be o ni?

Corrections
I'm having an headache = ori 'fo mi (or) efori yomi lenu
I have no classes today, but I have exams to study for = Mi ni kilaasi konkon loni, amo mo ni udanwo lati kawe fun.
What is wrong with that child? = kai somo ni? (or) komi somo ni? (or) komi yomo ni lenu?
How are u? = ba'o ni?

There is a general word for CLASS (eko), but a typical Ekiti person will use "kilaasi" instead.

I am really happy seeing the way we are all trying to keep to our root. My little girl often refer to Ekiti dialect/language as "grandma-english" each time she hears it.

In ma seun o.
Will be back later

The Ekiti dialect is really different so I know there has to be names that are only found in Ekiti just like we Igbos have names that are only found in certain clans. And yep I was banned for posting history. sad

The names you mentioned here are not ekiti names - they are names given to babies who were delivered in a special manner.

Especially Aina and Ige.

Other examples are Taiye, Kehinde, Alaba, Idowu, . . . . .

I know Ige is given to babies who are very very dark skinned.

I think Aina is given to kids who came out with the legs first. . . not sure though.

I didnt say they were Ekiti names, but common Ekiti names. And 4/5 Ekitis [esp females] that I've met and even on NL bear Toyin either as a first name or as a middle name.

se o moh awon oruko ekiti n?
Re: Abeg Who Can Teach Me Ekiti? by kokoye(m): 7:26pm On Oct 26, 2010

I really cant say we got special names.  All I know is that most of us are givin 'orikis' in addtion to our mane names. Most orikis are given by our grandparents and they have special meanings.

Apeke, Ajike, Akanbi, Abeni, Alamu, Ajoke . . . .

IGE f Yoruba
Means "born feet first" in Yoruba.

So AINA must be the other.
