Let me begin by saying, "only those strong at heart can bring the desired change."
Time and time again, Nigeria has been on the verge of collapse due to the high level of corruption by the ruling class. It has actually become a norm that once one gets elected into a public office, he/she steals and steals without consideration for tomorrow which has resulted into extreme frustration amongst the populace.
While a few has gone the way of suicide, many others have remained silent.
It is difficult to tag the country's current state to a curse or to a large percentage of weaklings.
I will rather go with the latter. Yes! A lot of Nigerians are mentally weak and scared to take the bull by its horn. The ruling class understands this and either tries to suppress the populace with force or manipulates and divide the populace into smaller numbers through religion and ethnicity, and sometimes, through buying.
Many countries that have been liberated didn't go through half of what Nigerians are going through today before they decided to lead a revolution. These revolutions lasted for years and led to several deaths. Today, many Nigerians are running to take up residence in those countries where their freedom and development was fought for. The most notable is the French's revolution. (You can read up on the cause of several revolutions that took place around the world.)
