The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export Mr Nnamdi Onukwuba, who disclosed this during an inspection visit to Eagles Farm Umuchu where Igbo cows are reared, revealed the state government’s interest in making livestock grazing a serious business, most especially, the Igbo species of cow known as “Ehi Igbo”. While addressing the media shortly after the inspection, Mr Onukwuba noted that the state government is already making plans of expanding cattle grazing across local government areas of the state and commended the owner of the farm for the initiative, assuring him of government’s partnership. oglalasioux: Ebonyi issue are simply herdsmen same as fulani herdsmen, no difference. There is nothing to compare here. Comparing anything is outright rascality. They are same as fulani people (herdsmen) 1 Like 1 Share |

Tomide007: Yes. Not just Igbo, but Yoruba, and all the people of South and Middle Belt. It is also called Muturu cattle or West African Shorthorn. It is native to forest and savannah. Our forefathers knew it well but since the 1980s government was funding only the Fulani breeds, that's why those are all over the place. Check out my posts as one of them is about Muturu cattle. They are beautiful. You can google a photo of them or see it in my post. They were found everywhere before. But we will bring them back again to the entire South and Middle Belt. 4 Likes |

Yeah, it's true. My late father told me that in the 1920s-1940s they used to rear many local cows in our hometown and he like many of his contemporaries only started seeing the Fulani Sahelian cows in the 1970s. meavox: 1 Like |

Should the igbo's delve into the cattle business then the Fulani's should just forget about rearing of cow, because within a short period of time they will take over the cattle space. 2 Likes |
