Good question. But charity, they say, begins at home.

During the debate on the radio he said he paid tax of N1.5b yearly nobody queried him then even the other governorship aspirants said nothing.

You can see that many of our compatriots are incapable of critical reasoning.

You would have expected these rabble rousers to investigate the claim in order to verify or disprove it.

at least you should congratulate him for declaring his assets, unlike your party members

That is a very relevant and apt question,in a society of course that is sane and same rules, laws and regulations apply to all.
But of course, this is no sane place.
Much as we would pretend to be civilized country and people,we live in a jungle.
So Makinde and others of his ilk, from both parties, can come out and declare superfluous wealth without stating the sources and details of the wealth.
It could all be anticipatory wealth from what he will garner as governor, for all we know.

Did you carefully look at the declaration that he made? He declared fixed, moveable assets and cash within and outside Nigeria. That he publicly declared his assets gives us something to use in assessing him again after 4 years.

See Donald Trump was a billionaire in the US dollars before he became the president. He declared his assets and everyone saw his major source of wealth as estates and properties. Makinde's most noticeable source if income is his engineering company and careful management of funds from his executed contracts.

Here we should ask other political office holders to do the same.

When our president declared his assets in 2015, his networth was about 30million naira. Can we say the same of him today? But in his current asset declaration form he said that nothing changed. Who is deceiving who? Makinde has shown the whole world that he is a billionaire. How many of our political office holders will do the same.

I think we should not chase the shadow leaving the substance. The truth is that corruption has overrun the country. The ones fighting corruption are own their own.corrupt.

Let other governors do the same. At least Seyi Makinde has declared his own publicly.
He is the first governor that declared that his salaries be forwarded to the Oyo State Teachers Pension fund. This man is rich from all his antecedents in Oyo State. Before he became governor, he had involved in various philanthropical activities. Go to his personal office in Iwo Rd, and see how people beseech him daily, and severals that are numerous to mention. For me, I may not be PDP fan, but for this governor, I beg to defer. He is rich and a very good person.

Akin Oke should kindly tell Nigerians the kind of work/business he does if he can. The state chairman of a party like APC must be a professional/full time politician. How much is he worth?
Re: Seyi Makinde's N48bn Assets: Explain Source Of Your Wealth - APC Tells Governor by Sheyila1: 5:54pm On Jul 16, 2019
They are asking for the source of his wealth, saying he didn't state the source... They have forgotten that it was a form they gave him to fill, and what if the 'source' questions is not raised or asked in the form?

I think the right question we suppose to be asking now should be - What does he want (or looking for) as a governor? Certainly, money shouldn't be his problem.

He (GSM) will just be laughing at them and feeling amaze with the standard of poverty mentality in the state.

Just thinking loud ni sha o

When I saw Makinde's profile, I knew there are silent successful people in this country. See his current and past staff coming out to speak for him. There's a $350m contract that only his company could handle in West Africa. He did the whole job himself.

Illiterates everywhere. Its funny people think Otedola, Dangote and Adenuga are the only billionaires in Nigeria. They all forget that there are thousands of other people in the energy industry, thousands of other indigenous companies that big companies outsource their jobs to. What about the I.T industry? People still think the ATM cards in their wallets are being manufactured by the banks themselves. Illiterate lots.

The first time I heard about somebody called Seyi Makinde was in 1999 era when Lam Adesina was Oyo State’s governor.
I was in secondary school then and we just saw a building being constructed in our school then and that it was an old student of the school “seyi makinde” that was building a library/ICT for the school. He was so young then that we were wondering if he was the one they were talking about.

The then governor came to commission the building.

This was a part of the numerous philanthropical acts that endeared him to different level of people that cuts across the state.

Let's reset this country.. I will suggest we collect 90% from our Billionaires' wealth. Dangote worth about $16Billion, I think $1.6Billion shld be ok for him for the remaining time he will live on this earth. Do same with Otedola, Adenuga, Alakija, past Governors, etc. By the time we finish, we will recover about 3 trillion dollars. What can $3Trillion do:

Permanently fix our power
Fix all our roads
Have great railway networks
Build research labs for future
Fix our education
etc

I'm begging these Billionaires to save the future of our Children. Most of them are dying soon. At most, Dangote, Otedola, Jim Ovia, Tinubu, will be under the ground in 25yrs time.

Lazy quasi-socialistic plebeian. Don't go and dream big and hustle. Stay there and be fantisizing about how government would seize the private wealth of successful people and share it among misfortunates like you.

So easy to figure out. His tax records will validate it cos 95% of his net worth is tied to what he owns. He only has $30k in cash.. rest of his wealth is in illiquid assets. He’s an astute businessman. Wealthy people dont keep cash, but average people keep cash.. lol

Wrong!

He declared over 200m Naira as cash in bank.

Illiquid assets is not safe by any standard. One disaster is all it will take to send such investor to ground zero.
