Post Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination screening for 2019/2020 candidates who chose Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State as first choice in Joint admission and matriculation examination and scored 200 for medicine and 180 for other courses started today, 16th July, 2019, as scheduled. The screening which started at about 8am saw a high turnout of candidates and their parents who were present to ensure their wards do not miss their chances of gaining admissions into the young but most seemingly serious public university in Nigeria today.
While chatting with Chris Akubuiro, PRO of the institution, Prof. Dr. Johnny Ogunji, Director of Academic Planning and Chairman of Post UTME/Direct Screening Committee stated equivocally that the screening from all indications was going on smoothly and successfully. He attributed this level of success to the sufficient time dedicated to planning by both the university and the committee. He also said that from every observation, students were cooperating and that in terms of capacity and management of the large turnouts, the university is ready to admit as many as NUC approved into the existing seven faculties of the university. For him, managing the crowd was not a problem since it was not the first time the university is dealing with such number. He finally affirmed that the university has all it takes in terms of security, expertise, manpower and facilities to handle the screening.

Chris Uwadoka, Director, CENDAMPAT, added that the level of success being achieved in the screening so far is attributed to the high level commitment of the university and members of the committee to ensure that no stone was left unturned in the planning and execution in the screening. “We planned; we previewed, reviewed and re-planned…”
