Its so funny. I remember a while back when d media and pundits were going gaga about Palin posting a map of electoral districts she was targeting, identifying them with standard mapping cross-hairs. The entire media claimed it was incitement to violence and roundly condemned her, pretty much all the networks lambasted her. I wonder what they will say about some one actually shooting a gun at specific policy proposals. This surely must be incitement to start a new civil war. I await d condemnations.

Lol. Montelik the thing suprise me oh! If it were a prominent republican it would be proof-positive of the 'violent' nature of 'tea-partiers'. Na so we see am my brother.

This Manchin sha, I guess is not your average Democrat. Unless he's singing the right tune just to get re-elected. In four years, when sentiment turns against the right as history proves, will we be seeing republicans hugging trees in their ads? grin

Manchin is appealing to his audience's emotions. He has studied his audience (west virginia voters) and has decided to tell them what they want to hear in order to get their votes.

Tomorow if this bomboclaat wins it will be counted as democrat victory right? Yeah right. Better forget all these dems from Kentucky and west Virginia. With dems like these, who needs republicans

This sounds very much like Bill Clinton justifying Late Senotr Byrd's involvement with the KKK. Byrd did it basically because he wanted to get elected and to help the people he represents. Liberal mindset - unexplainable!

Just like any Republican (eg Schwarzenegger, Giulliani) campaigning in enlightened area will ape some liberal policies, any democrat campaigning in red neck areas must ape retrogressive red neck behaviour.

apalachian people are more hillbilly than redneck.

Common now Liberals, why are you people insulting this poor fella with words like bomboclaat, hillbilly, redneck? lol.

No seriously, I think this is part of the problem. We expect that if a candidate has a D or R following their name they must and always vote a certain way. I am guilty of this too as evidenced by the OP. This rigid expectation of thinking solely within party limits we have I daresay is the main problem why Congress cannot work together and reach common ground. There has to be some give-and-take from both sides. And not crucifixion from the native party on the soul who dares to venture to 'enemy' territory.

^^Idealism I know. But hey, a person can dream jor.
Re: Pop Quiz: Is This A Republican Or Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate? by montelik(m): 3:22pm On Oct 20, 2010

Haha. Clever. I thought he was going to rearrange it to say "Americans" lol. Opportunists taking advantage of mutual concessions from both sides is to expected I guess. But I don't think it is a strong enough reason to be a total deterrent against trying in the first place  undecided. I'm willing to concede and even support many reasonable liberal policies . . . oh wait . . .  'Liberal' and 'reasonable' in the same sentence?  grin an oxymoron if I ever saw one . . . I kid I kid oh liberal folks before you come and fight me. I voted for the decriminalization of pot in MA few yrs ago and our vote won. I personally have some really cool liberal friends and I think there is a good side to liberalism. Its unfortunate it seems to be the crazy twin brother that's running the show these days.
Re: Pop Quiz: Is This A Republican Or Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate? by bawomolo(m): 9:49pm On Oct 20, 2010
what crazy twin brother.

all we want is our free healthcare (we would cut the defense bill by half to pay for it  grin) , same sex loving, scrap dont ask don't tell, save those lovable endangered species and the right to smoke weed.
now is that to much  cheesy

the existence of bluedog democrats especially along the midwest is no secret.

on a serious note, if you conservatives are willing to cut the deficit then you must reduce defense spending like they doing over in the UK.  no more fancy warplanes that cost millions of dollars.
by the way, is this the lunatic you want as a leader?

Lol . . . see? the crazy twin brother is here. No such thing as free jor. Wake up dude  cheesy

Nah but seriously . . . I'm all for cutting our national coat in all the various arms of government. I believe there are savings to be had from every area - I think "defense spending" is falsely targeted by the "anti-war" folks as some kind of deadly black hole sucking up the entire budget - when in fact this is not true. I am willing to see a reduction in defense spending (along with other arms of govt) as long as it doesn't come at a cost of national security, at the cost of coming in 2nd in technological advancements. If China is armed with the latest Samsung 60inch 1080p flatscreen, I don't want the US stuck with 36inch belly tv that barely survived the digital switch-over - all in the name of "cutting defense spending". This is America, we must shoot for 1st place in weaponry, sad to say, but we live in a sick world and must stay ahead of the curve.

As for DADT, they can go ahead and scrap it. Gays already marry, get federal benefits etc . . . why don't we get something out of them too by letting them serve in peace? grin

Endagered species? I'll tell you what's endangered - black men & women in high places of success. I don't care for some polar bear somewhere if the 2yr old in the ghetto has not had dinner.

Lol . . . see? the crazy twin brother is here. No such thing as free jor. Wake up dude

i know it isn't free and that's why we shall take money from NASA and the army to get me a free medical marijuana card
why send a rover to moon when a cheap LSD trip can take you there  say no to drug kids

what exactly is the national security threat. heck our home based terrorists are of more concern to me than china or some talibani dude.  the US is luckily protected by two oceans.  i personally do not see a reason why the army needs all these expensive toys (which we aren't gonna use anyway) in a time where state governments are struggle to fund health care and pension plans.

I know NASA scientists have been responsible for many discoveries ( can we say tempur-pedic beds  cheesy) but these guys are wasteful

http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/missions/x33_cancel_010301.html

our airforce buddies have expensive, maintenance cost guzzling toys of their own too

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/02/AR2010030203930.html

I personally would like to see this money diverted to our national labs and research institutes or to rescue struggling state school boards like the one in Detroit.    landing on the moon or having the fastest warplane is not that much of a priority IMO.

There are croonies in every belief or ideological system. No be today jor . . . for every far-right 'nut', I'm willing to bet there are 2 far-left nuttier

we have a lassez-faire perspective when compared to conservatives.

LOL. This is too funny lol. Are you sure the marijuana is medical? was is Dr Phil that gave you that prescription?

Do you want us to find out the hard way? I'm in favor of 'over-preparedness'. If that is the sin the army is committing then may they continue to revel in it shamelessly. They can definitely spend wiser and cut back, no question. But outrageously wasteful "projects" like these in my own backyard are slipping under the radar why the masses are villifying the army for trying to protect us:

$4.6 million bridge being built by the state for horses - Other Massachusetts bridges languish
  http://topics.myfoxboston.com/m/34590530/4-6-million-bridge-for-horses-eyed.htm

The span known as the horse bridge crosses over Route 24 in Randolph and is being rebuilt for $4.6 million, up from its original price tag of $2.6 million . . . It's potentially used by the 30 or so horses at Mullin's farm and by about 20 horses at a neighboring farm. That means the state is paying about $92,000 per horse to fund the $4.6 million dollar horse bridge.

^^now this is poster-child for government waste. Not weapons specialist Mr. Anderson who's trying to build a faster, stealth jet so the US can keep an eye on those feisty, trigger-happy North Koreans and keep us safe.

I know NASA scientists have been responsible for many discoveries ( can we say tempur-pedic beds  cheesy) but these guys are wasteful

Me self I will join hand with you and say no to the waste above. We can all tighten our belts from top down, the army has been known to waste in the past so no objections from me at all . . . but don't hate on those tempur-pedics oh, those things are like clouds  grin

I personally would like to see this money diverted to our national labs and research institutes or to rescue struggling state school boards like the one in Detroit. landing on the moon or having the fastest warplane is not that much of a priority IMO.
  I think you're muddying 2 seperate issues.

Contrary to you and many others, I do not think that many 'struggling schools' simply need more money thrown at them. Infact, I believe the national statistics show that more and more money is being spent per head of each child in public schools year after year (no doubt some of it is simply higher costs of everything). The problem with the rot in schools starts at home. More and more children are not being parented right or at all - we see this evidenced in their attitudes in school and in the community. Pumping in more money may give them Apple computers and oak-lined chairs instead of Dells and cold aluminum seats - but it will not make them better students or better children.

I do concur though that funds are needed to provide better teachers, a good teacher can in certain cases make a world of difference.

And I also concur landing on the moon may not be that important in the grand scheme, but I think having the fastest warplane here on volatile earth is very very important - staying ahead of the technological curve is absolutely vital to me. I'm serious oh. Of what use is there having well-fed, educated people if their safety cannot be guaranteed? Safety is just as important as education, if not more in my book.

a leftist is crazy by default.   where did you think those peace love and happiness hippies came from  cheesy

thoroughbreds have life the good life too. don't we have radars and satellites to keep an eye on north korea and iran?
i consider these warplanes as expensive toys in our quest to compete with china. we all saw how the weapons race bankrupted the soviet union.  the army must find ways to reduce its overhead cost.  whether it be cutting down on expensive toys or streamlining its infantry.

that's part of the problem.  there are parents who could care less about a PTA meeting but there are indeed school districts which could use a little cash.

but we can stay ahead of the technology curve by diverting some funds to argonne labs and the likes.  lockhead martin and boeing need to share the wealth jare.  i won't like though, the navy and airforce do donate a little something something to schools like mine.  the money just hasn't reached me yet.
