Metro View, a Popular Hotel located close to the Presco Campus of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, thursday escaped death by whiskers as part of the building collapsed.

The building which was reported to have had some defects and was undergoing reconstruction was said to be housing close to sixty customers including a couple.

According to a member of the management of the Hotel, Mr Austin Orji, part of the hotel had earlier been cordoned off after visible cracks were noticed on the major pillars and walls of the hotel, leading to the commencement of reconstruction works before the collapse.

He disclosed that many of the customers were out to attend a seminar when the tragedy struck.

Meanwhile, the State government through the Capital territory board had sealed off the Hotel while concerned Authorities had swung into investigations.
