The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a scheme set up by the Nigeria government to involve Nigerian graduates in nation building and the development of the country. It was created on 22 May, 1973 for graduates of universities and later polytechnics to take part in the National Youth Service Corps program for one year. This period of one year participation of the graduates is known as national service year NYSC. The scheme has four segments in the service year namely: Orientation Courses; Primary Assignment; Community Development Service; and Winding–Up/Passing–out. The government spend N70 billion, ($194 million) yearly in catering for the over 3,000 corps members.



Now the scheme is 47years, the Government have spent over N3 trillion since the scheme inception. I want the National Youth Service Corps to begin paying the Government annually instead of the other way round. The earlier the Government implemented this new idea the better for the country.

Craze dey your head

Somebody initiated NYSC and clamored that the Government will be paying the scheme. Government implemented that policy but somebody will reinvent that idea and NYSC will be paying the Government. Honestly, if the later idea is implemented both parties will be smiling to the Bank and that will create more jobs opportunity. Note ideas are created by thinking beyond the box.
