The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, leader Nnamdi Kanu has released what the system of government would be in the Sovereign State of Biafra when it is finally actualized.

This was contained in a statement released on Monday signed by its Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, with the title, ‘THIS IS FOR THOSE OF US WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW BIAFRA SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT WILL BE LIKE.’

The pro-Biafra group said its constitution would be written in local languages with seven nations making up the country called Biafra.

The statement added, “During the interactive session with our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on 12th January 2019, OWEI KEME BRADIKUMO asked a question:

“What is the proposed CONSTITUTION of the upcoming UNITED STATES of BIAFRA. Can we get a draft copy of it in the public domain now that will be necessary before our campaign towards the pending globally accepted BIAFRA REFERENDUM?

“Response from MAZI NNAMDI KANU: Biafra will run a unique political system designed to cater for the needs of our people.

“We are going to have NATION STATES. We will have an IGBO NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have an EFIK NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have ANNANG NATION WITHIN BIAFRA if they so choose. We will also have IJAW NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have ISOKO NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have IDOMA NATION WITHIN BIAFRA. We will have IGALA NATION WITHIN BIAFRA.

“Listen to this: THEY WILL ALL BE AUTONOMOUS. Each Nation State will control the resources in their own land. Very senseless statement. What does the language a constitution is written in have to do with anything? A constitution is usually originally written in the lingua franca of a country, and then translated into whatever language people like. The English bible originally brought to Nigeria has been translated into over 300 Nigerian languages.

Where has he ever seen a nation divided along tribal lines? How will such borders been drawn? Noting that some tribes are interspersed within each other.

This last statement shows kanu is actually clueless of what he is talking about. What does he mean common economic policy? Are the economies the same? I am certain he meant to say MONETARY POLICY.

4. B4 gowon truncated the 4 regions, each region has a prime minister (called premiere) who is appointed by the gov and reports to the parliament. In u.k each country (yes, country) that forms it has a ''first minister'' who is actually a prime minister for that region. The regional prime minister have areas they dont have power such foreign affairs, currency, military, federal police, environment, customs etc.

Britain is confederation made up of 4 separate countries.
England is not divided politically along tribal lines. There are no nation states like saxons nation, anglia nation,,cell nation, etc in England. England is politically divided for administrative convenience and not for tribal convenience.


EU started out as an economic union, but morphed into a quasi political union, yet it is still not a sovereign state. They are all still independent sovereign states with some having different monetary, defence and foreign policy.
You should be comparing EU with ECOWAS and not any federation or confederation. The EU is governed by treaty and not a constitution.



It was not Gowon that truncated the 4 regions, it was General Aguiyi Ironsi through Unification Decree 34 of 1966. Before that decree, each region was governed by a premier and was semi autonomous. At the centre, the prime minister was the head of government and was supposed to report to the president. But the British ensured the president was useless and only ceremonial by conferring the head of state on the prime minister, which was an anomaly, a minister should be reporting to the president and not the other way round.

You really need to get some education on Nigeria's history.

That decree created a unitary "one nigeria".
I am advising you again, read the unification decree 34 of 1966.

You are still going round circle on this EU thing. The European Union is a free association of sovereign states designed to further their shared aims. It is not a sovereign state on its own. It is not a federation or a confederation. It is governed only with a treaty which is even yet to be ratified by the various states. It does not have a constitution. All a country has to do to leave the union is give notice as specified in the treaty. It is left for the EU and the leaving country to negotiate terms of leaving. If agreements are not reached the country will just leave. This can't happen peacefully, if it was an actual political entity. Texas cannot decide to leave the United States without serious conflict.

To clear your doubt, Ojukwu was the Eastern Region Governor, Fajuyi was Western Region Governor, which was where Aguiyi Ironsi was assassinated at Ibadan while on Presidential tour to Western Region.

For Nigeria to progress at all, Nigeria must be restructured to function like a United Region of Nations.

They can use the existing Geopolitical zones: Southeast, Southwest, Southsouth, Northcentral, Northeast and Northwest.

Each region can have their own Regional Prime minister, have total control of their resources, have total control of their regional security like Policing, etc while the central government focuses on external security, border protection and others

How did Ojukwu become the governor of the eastern region and Fajuyi the governor of the western region? Were they elected? What of their parliaments? Who was making laws for the states created by decree 34? What happened to the former premieres of the regions, were they removed constitutionally? Who did the new governors report to?

Gowon simply added to the states created by Ironsi, he was not the one that abolished the region's and converted them to states.
