This tells you exactly why Nigeria is what and where it is. The person that sees a lost whale as an opportunity, and the person who sees a lost whale and something that needs help...who will you trust to monitor a budget?

who will abuse their neighbor when they see their neighbor is vulnerable?
Who will scam who when they know the other person doesn't have all the facts?
who will lie to get ahead?
who will kill to have what you have?
who will sell you fake drugs until you can't even trust the medicine you use?
who will sell your body parts?
who will do the right thing instead of the most advantageous thing?
who serves society and who serves their stomach?

A lot of what Nigerians think is 'sense' is actually a lack thereof. If you want to know who you should engage with in your business dealings, political and personal dealings, look at how that person treats animals. When you see oyibo treating dogs like people you laugh and think it's because they're strange. In reality, they treat the dog that well and treat their children even better. Treat their neighbor even better.

Nigerians often see value in abusing anything in their care, abusing trust, and taking advantage of vulnerable people. Then they wonder why things don't work.

Lesson: If you want to teach you kids empathy, and break the cycle of ignorance in Nigeria, buy them a pet and show them how to take care of it. in 18 years, you will see the caliber of human begin you raise.
