ECKANKAR is a path of Spiritual Freedom that teaches you how to chart your own individual journey back to your creator at your own time and pace.
The spiritual journey is not about religion and does not involve groups. It is about you and you alone and your personal relationship with God. Every other thing is secondary.

That said, it all boils down to your personal choice. I know of Christian Pastors and Reverend Fathers that are registered members of Eckankar. same goes for Moslems too.

We are personally responsible for our own state of consciousness. As Soul unfolds toward total freedom, It understands total responsibility must be accepted for every thought and action.

Question: In a talk, you mentioned we are fortunate to be able to travel worldwide to meet together at seminars and that we may not always have this opportunity in the future. What did you mean, and what would cause such a change in our freedom?

Answer by Sri Harold Klemp:

"The future depends mainly upon the choices that people make. It is called free will.

A crisis of large proportions does loom for the human race due to the population explosion. Yet there are other pressures too. Some of these are political or geological, but underneath, they merely reflect a widespread misunderstanding about karma.

The idea so many have today is that one can cheat, lie, or steal without any consequences. It's an illusion.

There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Negative thoughts, words, and deeds cause the spiritual forces to impose limits upon the exercise of such behavior. As the negative stream is shut down somewhat, to bring harmony into the picture again, the negative forces resist. They, in turn, impose natural, or legal restrictions on all outer freedoms.

The idea is of this order: If I can't have more candy, you can't either.

The changes to come may include a tighter economy, more terrorism, more government controls upon people's travel, finances, and communications. Not directly, of course. Things are done in much more subtle ways.

Changes will be 'sold' to people as a direction good for them. In fact, they're good for no one in the end. But people will buy the clever spins because they want to see them as in their own best interests.

It's the old lie of getting something for nothing.

So in reaction to this stream of negative human consciousness in action, the forces of nature will rebel. Look for lots of changes in the next ten to fifteen years."
