A Political Activist and convener of Initiative For Qualitative Leadership and Progressive Change, IQLPC, Comrade Kazeem Tanimu, has lent his voice to the planned ‘Revolution Now’ protest, convened by Omoyele Sowore, against the apparent system collapse and purported mal-administration of the Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government, that has now snowballed into the arrest of the former by the Department of State Services, DSS.

Tanimu in a statement made public through his social media platform, described the action of the Federal Government as ‘Appalling’ for attempting to prevent Nigerians from freely expressing themselves, which according to the president of Atiku 100%, in the recently concluded election, is a fundamental human right of Nigerians.

Reacting to a statement by Inspector General of Police, Mohammad Adamu, who described the planned protest as a treasonable offense and an act of terrorism capable of inciting violence in the country, Tanimu took a different stance; he posited in the statement that,

“…there is no treasonable felony, when Nigerians engage in protests when they’re being taunted by a vindictive president who has put Nigerian people in sheet pains.”

Tanimu said: “It is rather appalling to see the Buhari halt Nigerians from expressing their fundamental human rights. It is an integral part of our democracy to assume freedom to of speech. There’s no treasonable felony when Nigerians when Nigerians peacefully engage in protests when they’re being taunted by the vindictive President who has put Nigerians in sheer pains.

“Our economy has collapsed; Nigerians are suffering. And yet, Buhari still treats the citizens like animals. DSS should release Mr. Omoyele Sowore, he has done nothing that warranted his arrest, by this dictator called the President.

“The IGP is calling a peaceful protest a treasonable felony; how callous of him. Whether they like it or not, the protest must go on tomorrow, and no body will stop Nigerians from expending their voices against these present government.”
