UPDATED: Four Students Killed, Eight Others Injured After Bridge Collapse In Bauchi

Four students have been confirmed killed with eight others injured after a pedestrian bridge collapsed at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Gubi Campus.

This was disclosed to Channels Television by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Abdulazeez Ahmed.

The bridge which links one of the hostels and another building containing lecture rooms collapsed at midnight, following a heavy downpour.

The Student Union President, Naziru Mohammed had earlier told Channels TV that two students were confirmed dead and two others injured.

Students of the university are however currently protesting, blaming the bridge collapse on negligence by the institution’s authorities.

Director of Public Relations of the University, Andee Iheme also confirmed the death of two students following the incident.

Similar thing happened to me, when linking Zik Hall to Balewa Hall, around 11pm, one yeye metal bridge I cross regularly. I crashed with my lappie and everything.....sad day mehn...

Though some schools like UI shut down everywhere by 12am, most institutions in the East flash open 24hrs...

Depends on the individual.....

I do both, depending on the course and mood...
Some people don't have friendly beds.... grin

Sometimes, you also need friends who might aid you through tutorials, especially when it's close to the exam periods.

The unserious ones as well, go there to "chyke"... wink

Give or take, when I want to get serious, I go to a serene place.

What are all the engineers doing on campus?

That bridge or pedestrian crossing doesn't in anyway befit the status of a university that his mandate is premised upon being a 24th century university.. A University that has all forms of engineering courses... This further speaks volumes of the misery in the nation..
