A social media user has raised an alarm about the imminent collapse of a bridge on the Aleto axis of the East-West road in Rivers State.

The bridge leads to Eleme - the location of an NNPC refinery and the Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals Limited (IEPL).

According to the social media user who goes by the handle @HWokocha, the bridge is in danger of caving in due to the stationary vehicular weight it handles due to traffic gridlocks.

Such bridges, by their design, are constructed to carry moving loads within a second. They are not built to retain loads for a prolonged period.

Recall that some days ago, a bridge collapsed at the campus of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. The collapsed bridge reportedly claimed the lives of four students.

Though Nigeria calls out everyday, our leaders are not willing to obey to serve our fatherland, with strength and faith.

only when their is loss of life, that's when they will react.

They will not do it until they record death case over it

The bad part is that we have to ply this bridge everyday. 80%+ of Rivers State Tax Revenue comes from across that bridge yet nothing will be done. Noise have been made about this so many times in the last few weeks especially with the rate of trailers crossing that bridge on a daily basis.

That bridge is part of the East-West Road contracts by previous Administrations

That bridge is very close to the Indoroma Petrochemical Company and leads to the Port Harcourt refinery. It's a FG road, the funny thing is there is massive dredging activities very close that bridge, I wonder why PH commuters didn't point that out.
