Sallah”Festival of the Sacrifice” is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year. It honours the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, Isma’il (Ishmail) as an act of submission to God’s (Allah) command.

However,Sallah celebration has some unique symbolism . First,it marks the sacrifice of Muslims best Habal ie the sacrifice of domestic animals like cow, ram, goat etc as a symbol of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son to Allah .

Similarly, sallah marks the moment Muslims faithfuls across the world exhibit charitable service by giving sallah meat to relatives, friends , neighbours, poor and the needy.

Finally,Sallah celebration symbolize the climax of hajj or pilgrimage which is fifth pillars of Islam .
