I used pythagorean's theorem
the squareroot of the sum of the squares of 12 and 9. which is 15

Which brings up another question Why 12 and 9 and not 12 and 12
what is the 3 doing there

My heart is telling me the answer should be 12

Except what I'm seeing as 9 is actually 6

Which would make my first answer right but only because I made a visual mistake.

It will if you start using equation of a straight line equation perpendicular to a straight line, but if u use primary school coordinate geometry which also uses basic analysis you will get it in no more than two lines.

This doesn't work because the length of the diagonal isn not equal to the square root of the sum of 12² and 9².
