If you go to Religion section, any body can comment on a thread in Christianity section and say whatever they like. but in the same religion section, if you go to Islamic section and wants to comment on any thread, you would be asked to take an oath that you believe in Allah and Muhammad. if you click yes, the Islamic statement would be sticked to your profile and you can proceed with your comment. But if you say you don't believe in Allah and Muhammad, you won't be able to comment on any Muslim thread. This act of Nairaland by seun is very bad and should seriously be looked into. How can this be...where is the freedom of religion and freedom of speech. This site has become something else seriously.

It's for safety reasons since there are many muslim extremists out there that will resort to violence when they see Islam being criticised. Creating a separate section for Islam just lowers the risk of anyone getting hurt.

During the early days of nairaland, there was a lot of hate against Muslims and Islam, so the Muslim mods asked for a section within the religion section for all things Islam and seun granted their wish and added the oath stuff you always when you're about to comment

I feel Christians should also get their own section as atheists and anyone else creep up on Christian topics

There's absolutely no need for that because the Christian Faith has always thrived against criticisms and condemnations. The spread of the genuine Christian faith through persecutions has often been the tool God uses to advance His gospel.
Christians don't defend their faith with physical weapons like others do. The Christian faith is not a cult where others who don't belong are disallowed to fellowship. A genuine Christian isn't afraid to open his mind to other doctrines from other religions because he has the Spirit of Truth within him.

Those measures were done to reduce the virulent hate speeches which were almost all made by christains on Muslim threads. But how will an oath scare atheists from commenting from your threads undecided

He did it for peace for reign. These Muslims have a very immature response to religious topics. Christians on the other hand can take all the bashing and still live in peace with each other. This is the opposite of the average Nigerian Muslim ( grin grin grin grin grin ) who can start killing innocent people because of something you wrote on nairaland.

Remember how the Danish cartoonist drew a picture of Mohammmed and posted it on their Danish newspapers? Well, it caused a massacre in Northern Nigeria and people who should have been alive today are no more because of it. Yes, they are childish like that.

I like to see the restriction Seun put as a way to satisfy their childish desires, Christians and other religions don't need that rubbish.
