No need for long story by Fowler. They should compare the number of businesses that collapsed under PMB's regime, with the number that failed under GEJ. sad

Next, they should compare the rate of unemployment during both regimes, as well as the number of layoffs and staff retrenched in the public and private sector, under both governments. That is where the answer lies.

The unemployed and the collapsed businesses, cannot pay tax. For every failed enterprise and every retrenched worker, that is another source of tax gone. undecided

Due process?
So it is due process to ask a stupid question that shows you have no idea what you are talking about?

Good. I've been trying to explain to a PDP friend of mine.

He texted me this morning telling me how, APC has underperformed GEJ PDP in tax collections, upon all the noise. He seemed very happy about the 'bad news'.

Some Nigerians wish for & celebrate bad news about their country, purely for party political reasons
That was how you too masturbated at every bad news prior 2015. Stop the hypocrisy

Fowler is coming back. That was the same way some people came up with a 500 million fraud when Emefiele was about to be reappointed for another term to discourage PMB from reappointing him but they failed.

Buhari is a conservative. He would rather stick with an old hand who has not totally messed up than experiment with a new hand.

Dont be so optimistic!

In Emefiele's case, his re-appointment was a REWARD for printing #100Billion (and devaluing our currency by as much) needed to pay the Fulani Herdsmen, in order to appease them.

Moreover, Fowler is just seen as a Contractor, by this useless Abba Kyari and dont forget, TIME is running out on the RUGArisation and the FULANIsation agendas.

Sorry for what?

Crude was over $100/barrel BETWEEN 2011 AND 2013 and yet JONATHAN could still not sustain Revenue beyond what Fowler is doing NOW, when Crude is $70/Barrel and Buhari's Fulani Herdsmen/henchmen are wreacking havoc all over the place, due MAINLY TO CORRUPTION.

Sorry for yourself joor.

Mr Fowler may think himself too smart. By the time US dollar is brought into the mix,the half smart man will realize how stupid his answer as per non oil tax revenue is. For those that may not understand, the non oil tax revenue of Fowler is less than 50% of same nominal value under Jonathan era.

A major feature of dictatorships and weak democracies like Nigeria is their weak institutions.

Is Abba Kyari, a Chief of Staff to the President, allowed to query the head of a federal agency like FIRS?

The answer is definitely a no. But he does it anyway because of the absence of strong institutions and checks and balances in the system.

Some FIRS offices e.g Awka are asking newly registered companies to pay 250K for tax clearance. Excessive taxation can actually slow down the economy and ultimately lead to low tax revenues.A more reasonable approach is to tax moderately but ensure that more people/companies pay taxes.

Brilliant piece

The way Nig institutions tax businesses is worrying just based on a random estimation

He claimed that he collected less that what was reported before.

I should pity people like u that pay 65 naira per withdrawals from ATM and service charge that don’t want proper accountability.

I am not a politician neither do I wish to be one in future. But the way and manner Politics is played in Nigeria is ridiculous to say the least. Is Mr Fowler not competent to be appointed to the post of FIRS as boss?Yes.,So why the fuss?.was it because he was recommended by Tinubu,so we expect the man to fall?.Why I we so devilish? why do we wish evil to befalls people once we are not in the same political arena?. Could someone else have apointed Mr Fowler, everything will be okay then.Mr Kyari could have raised issues on Accounting just to get the true knowledge and pictures of the situation before the Presidency, but does that meant Fraud, afterall, that area is not Mr Kyari's Specialisation.Believed Bloggers at you own peril!!! .

Mr Fowler stated that his FIRS made about #1.1trn through Vat in 2018 and claims that it surpasses the 2012 record of #800bn made under the Jonathan administration. What everyone should simply do is divide both sums by the prevailing USD rates at the different periods. For instance in 2012 Usd was at about #150. In 2018 it became #360(min). When you do the arithmetic the figures that may emerge are $5,333m for 2012 and $3,055m for 2018. If you use the usd value of 2012 to seek the naira value of Fowler's collections for 2018, you will have a sum of about #458.33bn. Whereas the present Usd rate on the 2012 collections would be about #3.96trn. This is how economics thought us.

Why are you converting the Naira amount into Dollars without taking into account the price of oil during both periods? I'm intrigued what sort of economics thaught you that.
