Who can be quick to forget the legendary Nokia 3310? If you were born before the inception of the gsm era in Nigeria, then you would be familiar with this phone. Below are some of the popular and first brand of phones to be introduced into Nigeria. 1. Nokia 3310 Announced on 1 September 2000,and released in the fourth quarter of the year, the Nokia 3310 was a die hard phone because of its ruggedness, durability and aggressiveness. It was one of the most popular phone back in the days and it proved that having a good signal reception had nothing to do with antenna. 2. Nokia 1200 Launched 2007, this model of Nokia brought colour to the game of mobile phone and it was a huge success. 3. Motorola T10 4. BlackBerry 7210 Launched in 2003, it was ones of the major phones that cemented blackberry's place in the Nigerian market. source: https://zeespan..com/2019/08/who-can-be-quick-to-forget-legendary_19.html?m=1 |

There was this business centre phone call phone One Samsunh SGH 220 with blue screen and antenna. You have arrives as a business centre operator when you successfully purchase one. Who remembers that myth then that text message consumes battery that's why they don't send it. 5 Likes |

Days when men with no phones used to pay #5 per minute to make calls at phone boots... Just like people with cars nowadays do the ones with phones then would place the ones with no phones at the same level with dogs... Life is indeed so short Pukes 1 Like |

The only pioneer phone on the list is the 3310. Others are not in the same category with the 3310. That blackberry should not even be on the list. When you mentioned 3310, I expected to see.... Samsung blue eye. Sagem. Motorola T series. Siemens C & A series. Sendo. (models not remembered) Etc. These phones were used even before advent of polyphonic ringtones. I'm talking of the era when the cheapest recharge card in the market was N1,500. If you recharge today, after one week, the credit will expire, you won't be able to mek calls with it again till you add another 1k5. The era when there was no mobile Internet. The era when business centres load a booster card of 4k to bring down their call tariff. The era when we had only Econet and MTN. The era when you can only recharge MTN with *555*1* PIN # The era when men were boys. 11 Likes 1 Share |

In those days, the Telecom companies milked Nigerians dry. When GSM started in Nigeria in 2001 in Lagos and Abuja, only politicians, top Civil servants like Permanent secretaries or Pastors with big congregations could afford it. It started with Econet wireless (0802) ,then few months later MTN (0803) and in 2003, MTEL (0804) and much more later Glo (0805) which revolutionize the services by crashing the prices of SIMs and tarrifs. I remember around March,2003 when MTN wanted to lunch GSM (Global systems for Mobile telecommunications) in Ilorin and it became a serious campaign issues with both the ANPP/Gov Mohammed Lawal and PDP/Saraki camps both claiming credits for bringing GSM services to Kwara State. Many Ladies were disvirgined because they were bought Samsung R22, Nokia 3310 or Sagem phones. On campus, some ladies quarrelled or even dumped their BFs for not having these toy like mobilephones. iAudio: 3 Likes |

Around 2002-2010, there were many Land lines private telephone companies that operated side by side with GSM like RelTel, Intercellular, Starcom, Multilinks-choice, MTS-first, O-Net email. Does anyone remembers these companies? 3 Likes |
