It came up on the news ,that a young Nigerian had invented a generator that runs on water. Do you that think this technology will render oil producing state useless?

Firstly, the technology to harness hydrogen from water exists but you will need more energy to harvest hydrogen than whatever you will get.

Lastly, the real value of crude is not as a convenient fuel source but rather as a major derivative of virtually any synthesised compound.

Look at the device you are using and imagine how cumbersome, bulky and very expensive it would be if not for hydrocarbon derivatives.

Your screen would have been made from bullet proof glass and other parts from metal or wood.

You must understand that oil will still be around long after hydrogen powered cars are made and you can bet it will be much more expensive.

Take, palm oil for instance, when it was widely used as heating and lightning oil, it's price was far much lower than what it goes for now, although volume sales are much smaller.

what about electricity

Firstly talk about global effects not Nigeria states . The money realised from oils in Nigeria states have only been shared by politicians.. The masses only get crumbs.. So whether oil finished or replaced, it's still the same to the common masses.

Secondly, except the young Nigeria guy is living in a better country, the dreams might be shattered by several factors

Overtaking might take decades

what about electricity

What about it?

Majority of power plants in existence do not utilize oil derivatives but are rather coal fired, nuclear, gas and hydro dams.

If you are talking of home generators, this is only limited to Nigeria as Nigeria is the only country with a high demand for personal generators and inadequate power supply.

Nigerians are the only people on earth who can buy and run personal generators and at the same time have need for one.

what about eliminating nuclear, gas and coal powered stations and reducing emissions

See mumu question. Like say other non oil state they survive with the oil

Don't believe the emission and pollution narrative.

Yes, climate change is real but it is not anthropogenic. The Sun is responsible for 99.9% of energy on our planet and weather patterns.

The people that control the global economy want a paradgim shift from the US petrol dollar as it has now been proven that abiotic geological factors are responsible for oil deposits and not the fabled decomposed biomass.

With that theory now gaining ground, oil is seen as a near infinity resource and so the need to look for another commodity to hedge their paper currency.

The earth by the way is entering a period of Solar minimal which can last for the next 300yrs just like in the dark ages.

It is going to get more colder and drier in the coming decades, so discard in totality the climate change nonsense.

Even as a pollutant, most and all the effluents from hydrocarbons are easily sequested from the atmosphere as they are both heavier and highly soluble. A heavy downpour can easily clear the smog over Beijing.

Question should be directed toward Nigeria as a whole and other rentier states sitting on their asses. Oil income makes up near 100% of non-oil producing states allocations as well. After all I remember Agregbe complaining about low oil price and reduced subventions from the FG as being the reason behind the failure to pay salaries. Or where do u think Niger. Kaduna. oyo and co get their FAAC cash from?

What would be the fate of the major cities like Lagos after Chevron, Shell, Total, Eni, NNPC, Dangote Refinery, Addax, Statoil, Oando and co either relocate or shut down. 60% to 70% of all FDI into Naija is directed toward power and energy. The power portion mostly to gas powered electrification. The banks in Lagos too go hear am. What will happen to retail, hospitality, real estate, automobile and other consumer based sectors when their biggest patrons disappear. lol.

And then Abuja. After 95% of govt funds are erased what would sustain that very unsustainable vanity project. Were u in Abuja during late 2015 to early 2016? Think about that but 20 times worse. lol.

The only state that will survive is Borno. Given the international mandate to aid the state and what not. But that means BH will remain a going concern. No end in sight. But i guess that doesn't bother the elite there. Insurgency is definitely easier than being productive and diversifying the economy.

Finally, what would become of Nigeria when there's no need for everyone to tolerate each other again as there is no oil money left to massage conflicts and open wounds? You see this your question has many facets and pretty much an unending answer. You would need extra sheet.
