Returning Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffery Onyeama says he will focus attention on ensuring the security of Nigerians living abroad and attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) to the country. Onyeama made this known in Abuja on Wednesday when he assumed office following his reappointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs. He said that his focus would be in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda which aims to make to make the Nigerian economy to be reckoned with at the ECOWAS, African Union, and global level. Onyeama said that in implementing foreign policies, the ministry would be more aggressive and robust in engaging countries to ensure that the human rights and security of Nigerians anywhere in the world were respected, Igbere TV reports. He said that to that effect, a call number would be made available to Nigerians living abroad to enable them to call and ask for assistance wherever they were. Speaking on the attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, Onyeama said that both countries would work on growing a special relationship between them at the presidential level. He explained that in the framework, the issue of the security of Nigerians in South Africa would be addressed at the highest level. Onyeama said that there was also a trust deficit between Nigerians living in South Africa and the South African Police. “It was important to get both parties to work together toward addressing the issue,” he, said. http://igberetvnews.com/920530/onyeama-assumes-office-with-pledge-too-protect-nigerians-abroad-photos/ 2 Shares

If by Nigerians you mean the political class and not the commoners struggling within the laws to earn their daily bread, we only hope you don't get thrashed abroad while at it. If fmr DSP could be panelbeated, please who are you? You all have made it a point of duty to impoverish and dehumanize the Nigeria hoi polloi ; running abroad for supposedly basic needs, forgetting that the people you're running to over there are the lucky ones who escaped your onslaughts and have in turn sworn to restore our dignity as humans . Our Diaspora population, in reality feels the brunt of the years of Nigeria's maladministration more than we do. Their working in saner climes where there is commensurate value for money can be likened to being a Cashier who handle billions monthly only to be paid peanuts. They channel their earnings to hungry relatives down here and are most times, left high and dry. The beating would be intensified this time. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Too much talk and no action is constant quality of this present government, I will I will as become the new national anthem. If theye were smart enough they would be looking for ways to make Nigerians comfortable in their own country and not moving aboad. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

The man should be bold enough to confront America with their silly attitude of looking down on Nigerians. If they refused Nigerians visas, they should refund the money back. That customs comptroller man is a better fit for this position, not this one struggling speaking polished English without reterliatory actions against USA embassy in Nigeria, South Africa killings of Nigerians 1 Like 1 Share |

Abdulazeez99:Hear him, he will protect Nigerians abroad or you will face of your private business. Ambassadors that look the other way for fear to talk to their host country and defend their citizens, Abike Dabiri will soon come out to talk empty tough stories. I loved that woman and her group at NTA those days. 1 Like 1 Share |

This man is the reason why I might believe Buhari is not mentally OK. How this man retained his job is still a mystery considering the relentless slaughtering of Nigeria from India Singapore Malaysia China Soudi Arabia Indonesia South Africa n many more under his watch, yet our Igbo jews won’t wail about this glaring colossal failure cos he’s Igbo, they would rather wail over Aregbe. 3 Likes 1 Share |

/ No need for unnecessary promises. The political watchdog "IPOB" will let us know if you are doing a wonderful job or not. If in doubt, join a gym to keep your physical fitness up. It may come handy if you need to race to a getaway car. Just a friendly advice. / 2 Likes 1 Share |

Onyema was the most useless Minister of the last 4 years. He's even more incompetent than Adamu Adamu. You'll never hear the man say or act in anything that affects Nigerians. He's lucky Abike Dabiri is proactive and her activities cover for his incompetence. Considering the high number of Igbos in the diaspora, you'll think this man would be up and doing, but he's very very incompetent and non-challant. 2 Likes 1 Share |
