What is good for your heart is good for your brain. Blood pressure has become an everyday term. Have you heard of Adrenaline rush? For instance, when you see a snake crawling towards your direction, you feel a sense of fear springing up from within, and goosebumps over your body. Your heart begin to beat faster and consequently, pumps blood faster. Blood
pressure (BP) is the force that an individual's blood exerts against the walls of the blood vessels. It allows the movement of oxygenated blood through our circulatory system (heart and blood vessels) to all parts of the body.

Blood pressure reading has two numbers. The first one written above is the Systolic number which represents the pressure in the blood vessels when the heart beats. The second number -Diastolic, represents the pressure in the blood vessels when the heart rests between beats. An optimal blood pressure level is a reading under 120/80mmHg. Readings over these values and up to 139mmHg are in the normal to high. High Blood Pressure (HBP) or Hypertension is when the blood pressure is too high. When the BP is over 140mmHg, that is Hypertension. To detect if one is hypertensive, it's advised to consult a professional health worker.

According to scientific research, Hypertension is associated with brain damage in conditions like Stroke, Dementia, and Mild cognitive impairment. To prevent High BP,reduce the intake of salt and saturated fats, avoid alcohol and tobacco, consume fruits and vegetables, and exercise your body regularly. Manage your blood pressure and brain power. Consult your Physician today.
