Just yesterday, another 250 young girls graduated from the University of BEMORE taking the tally to a total of 1000 girls in the last three years.

Fantastically awesome!

Okay, let me just talk a little about BEMORE. BEMORE is one of the several initiatives of Chief Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of the Ondo State Governor. It began in 2017 with one broad goal -- help the girl child uncover her potentials and discover that she can be more than what society has profiled her to be.

This is done by training and empowering the participants with skills on ICT, Solar energy, vocational skills, leadership training, life and survival skills, building confidence and aspiring for excellence and precision at all times. The girls go into the boot-camp naive, timid, ignorant and vulnerable.

Under three weeks of intense training and painstaking practical sessions, they come out; empowered and emboldened coupled with enhanced leadership and survival skills.

They go in as vulnerable lambs, they come out as conquering lionesses. NO UIVERSITY IN NIGERIA CAN ACHIEVE THAT IN FOUR YEARS!

One can emphatically say that BEMORE has been the only project with real drive towards the actualization of the SDGS goal three and charge on the empowerment of the girl child in Nigeria. No other programme comes close. None!

Information Technology and renewable energy are changing the way we do things globally. These two aspects are currently on the driving seat of world development. If we therefore are serious about preparing our girls to be 21st century leaders and to be relevant, we must give them 21st century training and exposure. This is what BEMORE is doing. This is what we should be doing.

We are talking about 1000 girls who have been set on the path of ICT revolution. 1000 girls who have been prepared to tackle the energy crisis in Nigeria. 1000 girls who will be reshaping the face of development in Ondo state and Nigeria at large in the next couple of years.

This is no mean feat! This is the way to go!
