Riding with celerity to the fore – drenched in determination, And roaring onwards – on the blazing chariots of inexorable resolution, As an indefatigable, inseparable force for absolute unification, Bonded and bordered without the faintest broken line of limitation; As arrows fixed to one bow and aimed in every appropriate direction, To structure our amorphous position as Africa’s greatest nation . . . Our discordant state of ethnic mistrust and suspicion-oriented disposition, Breeds added distrust, further widening the abyss of tribal demarcation. Detrimentally, we remain inebriated from consuming much colonization Long after our master had deviously spread the royal seeds of separation. But the instrument of unalloyed truth remains an indubitable solution To grinding to fine dust the age-old fortifications of clannish division . . . Pulsing rhythmically at the sacred heart of this grand Federation, As spelt out in that power-filled document, treasured as our constitution, Is the imperative extension of equity to all people within her jurisdiction; As directing the wind of fairness and favoritism toward a select congregation, A mordant attempt to walk down the injudicious path of exclusion, Will merely birth deep-seated contempt and fan the embers of disillusion . . . How loud and thunderous toll the bell for national conversion, Indeed a concept that unfurls within each person’s perception; But ascending the acme of unfettered countrywide transformation Is anchored to faithful hands held together in firm formation; And advancing this multifaceted territory to her providence-directed destination Will remain but an illusion if underpinned solely with words of affirmation . . . For far too long, on the determinant point-system of globalization, We have worn the ignoble badge of third-world classification, Despite an abundance of man and material in our inimitable location. Rocketing to the admirable apogee of first-world categorization Hinges strongly on the combined commitment to lay an immovable foundation By forging pertinent plans and policies for encompassing implementation . . . © 2019 by Igwe 1 Like |
