Why Are IOS Apps Better Than Android Apps? by premjithbpk: 6:03am On Aug 27, 2019
What are the things you consider before buying a new phone?

Let’s say, the look, brand, price, memory, camera quality, and so on.

But no matter what devices you choose, most of them fall into two categories in terms of their operating systems

- Android
- iOS

But have you ever wondered how these platforms have differed from one another?

Well, there are many things to be considered. But the most important factor is mobile apps.

Because more than 70% of the user’s smartphone usage is through apps. So obviously, the user’s mobile app experience is a defining factor in determining the qualities of these platforms.

But when it comes to mobile apps, iOS apps are found to be better than Android apps.

Trust me, there is no bias against Android apps here. It’s just that iOS apps are simply better from both user’s and developer’s perspective.

I know you ‘re not convinced yet.

But no worries, we’ll explain to you. So read on.

How iOS Apps Are Better For Users?

User satisfaction is always the first priority in mobile apps. Most users don’t care if Android app development is harder than iOS app development or not. They just want the best app experience. And iOS apps provide exactly that. Let’s see how iOS apps provide a better user experience.

- iOS Apps Perform Better

Android phones are extremely diverse in terms of their hardware capabilities and firmware versions. So similar apps will function differently on different devices.

But iOS devices aren’t as diverse as Android devices. So developers know their device capabilities very well. So it’s easier for them to optimize the app performance accordingly.

- iOS Apps Are Safer

Android has been an easy target for hackers since its inception.

Since Android relies on open source code, it’s more vulnerable to privacy issues. Also, Google Play store doesn’t have a thorough app review process. They don’t detect potential malware and bugs. And it puts the users at huge risk

iOS, on the other hand, is a closed ecosystem. It doesn’t release its source code to app developers. So it’s hard for hackers to manipulate this data.

Apple app store also follows a strict app review policy. It has a higher standard of quality expectations. App security is a major criterion in this. So apple only approves the apps once they successfully pass all the test.

- Android Apps Contain More Ads

Nobody likes to see ads while using apps. It immediately rubs us the wrong way. Ads are one of the main monetization strategies in most Android apps. So developers are inclined to include ads in their apps.

But IOS apps are comparatively ad-free to a certain extent. So, users have fewer interruptions while using apps. We can also block the ads with an adblocker.

Why Developers Prefer iOS App Development?

This is an ongoing debate in the mobile app development field on the topic of most developer-friendly app development.

Every time this debate comes up, iOS app development always wins the battle. But why app developers prefer iOS app development though?

Well, we’ll tell you exactly why

- iOS App Development Is Faster And Cheaper

it’s natural to presume Android app development is cheaper due to the affordability of Android phones. But iOS app development is actually easier, faster and cheaper.

Mainly it is due to the code requirement of iOS app development. For Android apps, one needs to write code in java. And it usually requires more code compared to the use of swift in iOS app development.

Ensuring Device Compatibility Is An Easier Task In iOS

An app should be compatible with all kinds of devices on the same platform. The following are the key factors an app developer needs to consider to ensure device compatibility.

- Device features
- Platform version
- Screen configurations

So the app should function the same way regardless of the aforementioned characteristics of a smartphone. But the diversity of Android phones makes this job a bit harder for developers.

According to Google, most Android users still use older versions. So optimizing the app for all these versions is a challenging task for Android developers.

But on the other hand, according to apple 88% of iOS devices are using the latest iOS version (iOS 12). Due to the limited number of older devices and versions, it’s easier for a developer to understand their features and optimize the app for those devices.

Final Thoughts

So besides these, the tools for iOS app development are comparatively better and developer-friendly. So that’s another bonus for developers. Also, Apple’s team are more considerate and accommodating to the developers as opposed to Google’s team.

This is not to dishearten the avid Android users. Many of the Android users still may be able to run their desired apps as smoothly as it gets. But when compared to iOS apps, they are still inferior in many ways.
