A friend needs to make an urgent decision. Got an offer of 200k in Calabar. His current pay in Port Harcourt is slightly lower than that but with the possibility of a raise in the next 2 months which may take it to about 200k too.

He's confused about what to do, considering the fact that he has no clue about the cost of living in Calabar. Anybody with the experience of living in the two cities with special focus on rent (say a 2-bedroom apartment), food items, transportation etc should please advise.

Calabar is more peaceful

The most important thing here is the prospect of the job. Which of them will give you opportunity to grow, add value to you and make you a better person in the nearest future. Look at the fire dear. Forget the cost of living in both towns. Though I think there is no much difference

For now, there seems to be no clear cut difference in terms of prospect.

Almost same but in Calabar you dont worry about traffic and other environmental nuisiances as you will in port harcourt.

I would have recommended port harcourt if it were business.

See calabar is more street violent than port harcourt city at the moment, the issue is that there is no much online presence so activities and crime are kept away from the media. Obtaining is something else on the streets of calabar.

Calabar is more expensive but traffic is less. Avoid Calabar South. I prefer PH sha..
