In a bid to keep Lagos clean, the LAWMA Enforcement team has started the seizure of carts across the state.

The menace of cart-pushers is undermining LAWMA's efforts to establish a cleaner and livable environment. It has been observed that these cart-pushers collect wastes from residents and dump them in canals and other unauthorized locations. Thus worsening the problem of flood and other environmental hazards. We won't allow that to continue.

Say "No" to indiscriminate waste disposal, patronize only your assigned PSPs.

These carts help the people and provide jobs for the pushers.

The problem I have with most Nigerian policies is that they're not aimed at helping the populace. Rather they're aimed at enriching the politicians.

Maybe one politician has a business initiative but is afraid that these cart pushers will outcompete him so he's hiding under the law to fulfil his personal gains.

At the bolded above,
That is not right in any sane society.
And how long will the Government do all these carts seizing, this won't be the first time.
The best thing to do in this case is to infuse them into the environmental ministry or give them good orientation while providing a designated location in the areas they work for them to drop their refuse, where the PSP can come and pick it up on a daily basis.

God bless Lagos state.
God bless Nigeria

Don't deprive people their means of livelihood.
Things are too hard in this country.

Not all them carry waste.

Some of them convey peoples goods from one location to another.

It will be wise to nab the ones caught in the act and not punishing innocent hustlers

Y don't they work in conjunction with the cart pushers... Get a designated sight where they can dump refuse after collection...and the big trucks will load it from there

What a government. You can't provide or create enabling environment for job creation. Yet you won't allow the poor to be their own government in peace. If they go the other ways now. You will still complain

But y na ?
Some areas still depends on this ppl to dispose their wastes.

Maybe it's a nice move, I don't know. But disposing waste at water ways is not acceptable now that Lagos state is taking efforts to clear drainage and canals way.

good and bad - the problem is the trucks do not meet all disposal needs. all they take away is basic garbage

some of these cart pushers pour directly into the ocean. all we know is that they are removing our garbage. we do not know where they are taking it to.

Yawa dey o

Before carrying out this assignment, Lagos State government should make sure that they have provided job opportunities for these cart-owners.

Seriously, the government of this country is something else..... If you deprive a man his source of income... Make sure you have other better plans for him cos you will not be the one to feed his family for him.

God Bless Nigeria

There's nothing nice in this.

LAWMA are thieves. They only want to stop these cart pushers to enable them enforce their crazy bill on Lagosians.

Last month they pasted a bill on my gate reading #97,000 for the month of June to August. They didn't come to collect dirt since January and they brought a bill. They should be lynched because if you reside in Lagos, you would understand how all these useless agencies are milking the residents.
